Sofie and Dietmar Schroecker to
help celebrate the wedding of Karin
Schroecker and Roland Archer who
were married on July 7 at Stanhope
Beach Resort in PEI. Karen and
Roland are living in Paris, Ontario.
Sorry to hear Viola Sanderson fell
and broke her wrist. She is in
London hospital and we wish her a
speedy recovery.
BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, July 29 was Mary Lou
Stewart. Ushering were Karen
Glousher and Hope Button. Guest
pianist was Amanda Swartzentruber.
Amanda is enrolling in nursing
school.
Guest speaker Tom Dunbar
welcomed everyone to church.
The choir’s anthem was Make Me
A Channel of Your Peace. OllieCraig lit the peace candles at thefront of the church.Mr. Dunbar had a children’s storyof knock, knock jokes, followed byThe Lord’s Prayer and the scripture,Luke 11: 1-13 and Psalm 17 whichwas led by Ollie Craig.Mr. Dunbar’s message to theadults was Knock, Knock. He said
that we are all good enough in God’s
eyes to talk to him. If we don’t ask,
God can’t answer us. God is able to
deal with many things at once. There
is nothing too small to talk to God
about. We only have to pray and God
will answer. It doesn’t hurt to pray
for something for ourselves. We
should continue to pray for healing
and peace. Sorrows shared are
sorrow divided and joys shared are
joys multiplied. We must talk to God
and listen for his answer.

Work on Dinsley Street will
progress in Morris-Turnberry.
North Huron clerk-administrator
Kriss Snell said at the July 16

Turnberry will support the project
with 40 per cent from North Huron.
He said that while Morris-
Turnberry had first said no to the
proposal, they had reconsidered.
Snell said the contractor will
continue the project at the current
price with the split being $57,897
for Morris-Turnberry and $39,598
for North Huron.
Morris-Turnberry approved the
project at their meeting the next

It will mean extending the
watermains and sewers and finishing
curb and gutters.

Hot, hot, hot
Although it was one of the hottest weeks of the year, last
week area firefighters gathered at Blyth’s emergency
services training centre to brush up on some skills of the
trade. Smoke billowed from the compartment while the
firefighters were faced with bursts of fire coming across the
top of the unit. (Shawn Loughlin photo
