Happy Canada Day and I hope
everyone had a great long weekend.
There were lots of Walton folks
attending the Seaforth firefighters’
breakfast on Sunday. Too many to
name but they arrived alone, in pairs,
by family, cars and motorcycles.
Great breakfast too!
Returning from a great trip to the
east coast is Helen Craig. Helen,
along with sisters Mary Elliott from
Vancouver and Emily LaRue from
Haliburton enjoyed a bonding
adventure. While talking to Helen
about the trip, I could hear a lot of
laughter from Mary conveying
tidbits of happenings that the girls
enjoyed.
The driving tour with Helen at the
wheel and Mary and Emily as
reasonable navigators struck off for
two weeks on the road. A few wrong
turns, but the ladies weren’t afraid to
stop and ask for directions.
The first big stop was at Big
Montebello Lodge in Quebec for a
Father’s Day lunch. This lodge is the
place where many visiting
countries’politicians gather. It is the
site for the upcoming economical
summit.
After a tour of the old city of
Quebec, it was off for the highlight
tour of the Maritimes. They stopped
at the Reversing Falls and crossed
from New Brunswick to Prince
Edward Island on the Confederation
Bridge. They returned from Wood’s
Island on the ferry to Nova Scotia.
No tour would be complete
without stopping at lighthouses
enjoying a lobster supper at St.
Anne’s Church, experiencing a
Ceilidh at an Institute Hall and
having a feed of Digby scallops that
just “melted in your mouth”.
The day tour of the Cabot Trail at
Cape Breton was sunny on the way
up, but cloudy on the other side, so
the spectacular view they expected
was “clouded”. They saw lobsters
being unloaded from the boats and
the buyers taking them away.
While in Halifax, a young man
who has biked across Canada raising
money for cancer, arrived and they
witnessed the presentations to him.
Then it was a stop at Peggy’s Cove
and the Swiss Air crash site
memorial.
They headed home through the
Annapolis Valley and Canadian
route to Haliburton to drop off
Emily, then it was home to Walton
for Helen and Mary. They report a
great time.
While Helen was away Graeme
kept busy, getting Michael ready for
camp and travelling to New
Liskeard for plowing matchmeetings.Off to North Bay for a visit withBryan and Heather Kelso and familywere Neil and Marie McGavin. Afew days away is always great. They also went to Earlton, nearNew Liskeard, for the unveiling ofthe Plowing Match 2009 logo forTimiskaming District hosts. They
had a visit with Charles and
Carolanne (Williamson) Regele and
Kevin and Pam Bennewies.
Heather, Jared and Ella Kelso
arrived Friday so they could be
home to attend the seventh birthday
party celebration for Tyson
McGavin. A family party was held
on Canada Day and they had a great
time. Bryan, Hayden and Jessica
Kelso stayed in North Bay to enjoy
Canada Day celebrations there.
It was also party time for Caden
Lee who celebrated his sixth
birthday party with family and
friends. The Janmaat and Lee
families gathered at Brett and Tracy
Lee’s for fun and food. Caden
received a truckload of things and
had a great day.
Birthdays abound to finish June.
Celebrants are Tanner Boven, Paul
Linton, Adam McClure, Tyson
McGavin, Mary Humphries, Ken
McCallum, Jennifer Rea, Sandy
Terpstra, Kaitlin Becker and Caden
Lee. July begins with Sherri Taylor,
Mike Ryan, Mert Hackwell, Hope
Williamson, Jeff Linton, Craig
Baan, Bob Humphries, Allison
Stevenson and Jonathan Blake.

salespeople, we’re welcomed inside. What’s more,
we’re often asked to stick around for a whole week.
If you’re not taking advantage of this opportunity to
tell people about your business call today.
