Got it
It was a great stop for this Ethel Squirt as he made the grab
for the out, well ahead of the Blyth runner. The two teams
played in Ethel Monday night with the visitors coming out
ahead by a score of 11-5. (Vicky Bremner photo)

Make your family part of history
In the July 26 issue, prior to the homecoming celebrations from
July 27-29, The Citizen will be publishing a special
commemorative edition with an extra 1,000 copies. Included will
be pages of family histories. You can tell your family’s history for
as little as $50 for one-eighth of a page (with enough space for a
brief synopsis and small photo of someone from your family’s
history). Or by purchasing a one-quarter page, for $100 or one-
half page for $200, you can give a more complete history.
Just bring in your family story and photograph(s). We’ll quickly
scan your precious photos and return them to you.
Tell your family’s history as part of
The Citizen’s salute to Brussels’ 135
th anniversary.
Deadline for submission is Friday, July 13.
(These rates apply to family histories only.)
Good works

Recently a very successful ladies’
golf tournament was held at
Wingham Golf Course. The Women’s
Shelter, Second Stage Housing and
Counseling Services of Huron
County sponsored this tournament as
well as one in Goderich, and Exeter.
A record number of teams
participated and a record number of
holes were sponsored by local
businesses. Michele Hansen’s team
had the top score, with Ann Bayley
the longest drive and Carol Oriold
winning the closest to the hole prize.
All participants went home with a
gift again donated by our generous
business community from this area.
Chair of the Women’s Shelter
Board, Emily Phillips said, “We
must raise about $100,000 at events
like this in order to run our programs
throughout Huron County. The
amount needed beyond municipal
and provincial grants. It is gratifying
to see the steady growth in support
for this tournament, both in the
golfing community and in the
business community.”
Next weekend’s Festival of Arts
and Crafts, in Goderich, will be the
next fundraising activity for the
Women’s Shelter group.
