Or by purchasing a one-quarter page, for $100 or one- half page for $200, you can give a more complete history. Just bring in your family story and photograph(s). We’ll quickly scan your precious photos and return them to you. Tell your family’s history as part of The Citizen’s salute to Brussels’ 135 th anniversary. Deadline for submission is Friday, July 13. (These rates apply to family histories only.) Good works Organizers of the Wingham ladies’ golf tournament held recently for the Women’s Shelter and Second Stage Housing of Huron County are, from left: Carole Broadley, Rosemarie Wiese, Marjorie Duizer, Emily Phillips, Carol McDonnell and Flo Keillor (Photo submitted) Recently a very successful ladies’ golf tournament was held at Wingham Golf Course. The Women’s Shelter, Second Stage Housing and Counseling Services of Huron County sponsored this tournament as well as one in Goderich, and Exeter. A record number of teams participated and a record number of holes were sponsored by local businesses. Michele Hansen’s team had the top score, with Ann Bayley the longest drive and Carol Oriold winning the closest to the hole prize. All participants went home with a gift again donated by our generous business community from this area. Chair of the Women’s Shelter Board, Emily Phillips said, “We must raise about $100,000 at events like this in order to run our programs throughout Huron County. The amount needed beyond municipal and provincial grants. It is gratifying to see the steady growth in support for this tournament, both in the golfing community and in the business community.” Next weekend’s Festival of Arts and Crafts, in Goderich, will be the next fundraising activity for the Women’s Shelter group. Pictures of Home The Citizen is currently planning its 2007 Commemorative Brussels Homecoming Issue and we are looking for pictures of Brussels to highlight its history. Drop your pictures off at either of our offices and include your name on the back of the photo and a brief summary. Photos will be returned to the Brussels office at a later date.
