Off with his h..air
Morris-Turnberry councillor Mark Beaven had a close shave on the weekend
as he had his locks sheared to raise money for Childcan. On the job, were,
from left: Gary Pipe, Kriss Snell and Diane Peckitt. The street around
Cinnamon Jim’s in Brussels was a little congested as folks came out to
watch the ‘stylists’. Beaven was challenged by a young friend, Stacey
VanMiltenburg of Seaforth, who cut off her hair four years ago for Wigs for
Kids, and decided to go with the bald look to raise funds again, this time for
Childcan. VanMiltenburg had her head shaved June 5. (Vicky Bremner photo)

Homecoming is only four
weeks away and the Branch is
involved in a few things. The
Cadet Corps is hosting a teen
dance on Friday evening so
young people 10 and up can
come out and enjoy the music
of D.J. Joe Carter.
The Branch is hosting a
music jamboree and
musicians are invited to join
in and jam or play alone for
the enjoyment of everyone. A
light lunch of sandwiches will
be served.
The Branch is also
providing the food booth at
the ball tournament so
Comrades hopefully will be
able to sign up for a shift
on Friday, Saturday or
Sunday.
Of course there will be a
float for the parade featuring
veterans and ex-service
personnel.
Decorating people are
needed, so if you can help,
give the Branch a call.THAT WASN’T HARD

There will actually be two people who will be a little cooler for the next little
while, and they should feel pretty darn good about it too. Mark Beaven, right,
and Stacey VanMiltenburg, centre had their heads shaved to raise funds for
Childcan. Accepting a ‘cheque’ is Marianne Hebb, director of Child Can, a
charitable organization that works with the Oncology Department at the
Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario in London. The total raised between
the two is expected to be in the range of $5,400. (Vicky Bremner photo)
