Hope everyone had a happy
Canada Day.
The Brussels Legion Branch had
its red and white on for Canada Day
and for Brussels Homecoming.
Thanks to Sandra and Jo-Ann.
The dance hall for the Sunday
night dance had Canada flags on the
tables to celebrate Canada’s
birthday. Over 90 people were on
hand to enjoy the music of the
Country Versatiles.
There were 14 1/2 tables at play
for euchre on Saturday. The new rule
cards on each table were a hit,
thanks to Leona Mcdonald.
The lucky winners for the day
were Faye and Helen Nolan with 77
points, Ray and Shirley Gilders with
76 points and Janet Mathers and
Irlma Edgar with 42 points.
The not-so-lucky players were
Lloyd and Lillian Appleby with 42
points for low prize. The lone-hand
prizes went to Marjorie Jarmuth and
Ed Stewart.
Euchre is every two weeks.
Thanks to Eric Ross for washing
up the cenotaph and Jim Brown for
the use of his pressure washer. The
cenotaph really looks nice.
Also thanks to Eric for painting
some trim areas of the Branch with
helper and spotter Lisa Glanville.
Homecoming gives everyone a
reason to get some of those extra
jobs done.
The fish fry crew was busy with
two dinners on the weekend. They
were at Blyth on Saturday for the
Blyth Legion’s fun and games day
and fish fry. Only a small crowd
enjoyed the endeavours of Glenn
Bridge, George Adams, Greg Wilson
and Jo-Ann McDonald.
