Huron County rushing to get an
application in.
The announcement was made in
March, the funds were put into the
provincial budget to reduce
broadband infrastructure gaps in
rural Ontario. The funding is one-
time only.
The issue was discussed at Huron
County council’s committee of the
whole meeting on June 19 and an
application is in the works.
With a mid-July deadline, an
application would have to be
prepared quickly. Huron East,
however, questioned if a broad
application for the county was the
best course of action, or if they
should apply on their own to achieve
better results.
With mayor Joe Seili absent from
the meeting, councillor Bill Siemon
brought the county council news to
the municipal councillors, tabling
the idea for discussion at Huron
East’s June 19 council meeting.
The first recommendation came
from treasurer Brad Knight, who
said he agreed with the original
proposal of a county-wide
application.
Councillor Larry McGrath
disagreed with Knight, saying
keeping the application as local aspossible might bring better results.“Maybe we can get some of thismoney, but to sit back and wait forthe county to send in this applicationhonestly scares the hell of out me,”
he said.
Deputy-mayor Bernie MacLellan
was in favour of the county-wide
application, and told the rest of the
councillors if an individual
application was to be filed, it was all
or nothing with the county.
“If we’re going to apply on our
own, we should take our territory off
of the county’s application right now
then,” he said.
The way the money will be
distributed, depends on funding
from the county and investors as
well. The provincial funding is
available as one-third cost funding.
So if the area in question can provide
two-thirds of the required funds, the
province will provide the final third
from the $10 million worth of
funding.
After discussion, council decided
to stay with the county-wide
application, thinking it would be
better for their municipality that
way.
The issue, however, is far from put
to bed. Council was waiting on
reports back from a meeting
regarding rural broadband in
Ingersoll and county council’s
application, that is due within the
next two weeks.

students had enjoyed at Hullett. She
enlarged on an analogy to a line
from a familiar song. “Life is a
dance you learn as you go.” She
explained that each new experience
or lesson was like a new dance step
to struggle with and master.
Teachers never discouraged
anyone who stumbled but
encouraged everyone to get up and
try/dance again. As the group
matured from kindergarten to Grade
8 the various teachers added music
and dance steps to their lives.
Heather encouraged all her
classmates to take all their
knowledge/dance steps along to high
school and to always practice the
background/steps Hullett teachers
have given them.
Maturity has given each student a
unique style and for this Heather
offered thanks on behalf of her
classmates to teachers, mentors and
parents. She urged each
classmate/dancer to build on their
dreams/steps.
Congratulations and best wishes to
all of you in the years ahead.

OPEN-CONCEPT CONTEMPORARY HOME
An open-plan living concept and
contemporary features make this the ideal
home for a busy family, with plenty of room
for work and play.
Through the windows beside and above
the front door, natural light floods into the
two-storey foyer. The entrance area greets
visitors with a display shelf to the left and an
interesting angled staircase to the secondary
bedrooms upstairs.
The main part of the ground floor is
occupied by a splendid great-room complex,
which will provide the family with every
feature needed for day-to-day living activities.
The sunken great room itself boasts a
coffered ceiling, as well as a gas fireplace
with an entertainment unit next to it. A french
door opens to a huge patio with steps down
to the garden on all three sides. The patio is sure to be an enticement for outdoor meals and barbecues during the summer months.
A step up from the great room leads to the dining room and kitchen. Enhanced by a sloping ceiling, the dining room also enjoys
access to the patio. A sitting area with a built-in bench fits neatly beneath a window overlooking the back garden.
In the kitchen, an extra-long central island incorporates both a cooktop and a breakfast bar for those quick snacks. The design
provides plenty of countertop space, along with a walk-in pantry for storing canned and dry goods.
Also on the main floor is the master suite, with a large, square bedroom area that features a sloping ceiling. The four-piece en-suite
bathroom includes a linen cupboard. A walk-in closet, just outside the bedroom and neatly separated from the rest of the suite, is
conveniently fitted with shelves.
The laundry room has direct access to and from the double garage and includes coat hooks and a bench, useful for removing sports
gear and muddy boots.
A den off the foyer is ideally located for use as a home office. A two-piece powder room and a coat cupboard complete the layout of
the main floor.
Upstairs, an optional computer room boasts a railing overlooking the foyer below. The two secondary bedrooms share the main
bathroom, with a double vanity and a linen cupboard. A skylight brightens both the bathroom and the hallway.
The exterior is finished in horizontal siding with board and batten in the gable peaks and shake accents. The front porch provides a
touch of charm.
The house is 65 feet, 5 inches wide and 58 feet deep with 2,410 square feet of living space and an unfinished basement.
