Blyth’s U-15 soccer squad
travelled to Bayfield on June 20.
During the first half of the game a
Blyth player knocked down his
opponent while running for the ball.
This allowed Bayfield to take a
direct kick. Blyth didn’t see that ball
coming and the ball sailed right into
the net. Bayfield scored again when
Blyth’s goalie Jacob VanDorp
stopped the ball the first time, but
couldn’t reach the ball on the
rebound shot.
The first half also saw Blyth’s
goalie flattened to the ground by an
aggressive Bayfield striker, so the
striker received a red card and was
removed from the game. Blyth
would now be able to play with a
man advantage for the few minutes
that remained in this half. At
halftime the referee decided to
change the red card to a yellow and
Bayfield’s striker was back in the
game.
In the second half of the game,
Blyth took advantage of their corner
kick and scored a goal. Colin
Bokhout lobbed a beautiful ball in
front of the Bayfield net and Matt
Steele cleaned up the ball and
directed it into the net.
Bayfield headed another goal into
the net off a corner kick. With many
more great plays and shots on net,
Blyth was unable to score again
before the final whistle blew.
Bayfield won 3-1.
Man of the match was given to
Ross MacDonald, who was finally
able to play his first game of the
season after a shoulder injury and
did a great job on defence.

by one to Bayfield
Wingham II hosted a game againstBlyth U-13 Lightnings at theGalbraith field on June 21.The teams were very evenlymatched and the ball was volleyedup and down the soccer pitch.Defenders from both teams did a great job getting the ball out of theirend, putting a stop to many of theattempted shots on net. Blyth’s halfbacks showed somegreat ball control as they deked theball around their opponents andworked hard to steal the ball away, if they didn’t have possession of it.Blyth’s keeper Josh Raynard madesome great saves to keep his team inthe game. This contest had all theelements of a great game of soccer, but in the end there was no score, nowinner or losers.

|turned with Clinton’s offence taking
over. Clinton scored two goals early
in the second half and were still
pounding away at the Lightning
