their 60th wedding anniversary last
weekend with over 100 of their
friends and family.
The celebration was hosted by the
family at their home and guests were
welcomed from all over Ontario.
Friends and family travelled to the
Cullens’ house, just north of Ethel,
from Chatsworth, Toronto,
Kitchener/Waterloo, Guelph and
many from the surrounding
area.
Helen Elliot, daughter of Clifford
and Jean Elliot of RR1 Listowelcame to marry Alex Cullen, son ofJames and Jean Cullen of RR2Listowel at the Elliots’ home, June21, 1947.The service was conducted byRev. Hahn. The wedding was
attended by the bride’s cousin,
Isobelle McMichael, the bride’s
sister and junior bridesmaid, Ina
Elliot and the cousin of the groom,best man, Bruce Chambers.The couple then headed tonorthern Ontario for theirhoneymoon and returned to settledown at the groom’s farm, Lot 26,Conc. 3 in Grey Twp.
Alex settled into farming, while
Helen spent her years as a farmer, a
homemaker, a schoolbus driver and
real estate agent. Helen also spentmany years as a councillor for GreyTwp. Now, Helen still does some workwith real estate, while Alex occupieshis time with some specialtywoodwork.
The couple has four sons, Elliot,
Jim, Bill and Andy, 11 grandchildren
and six great-grandchildren.

Alex and Helen Cullen celebrated their 60th wedding
anniversary last weekend with over 100 friends and family
who made the trip to their farm. Attendees travelled from
Chatsworth, Toronto, Kitchener/Waterloo, Guelph and from
all around the surrounding area to be with the happy couple

A long time coming
With a continuous line stretching down past the curb and around the parked fire engines, it’s
safe to call last weekend’s Brussels Firefighters’ Father’s Day breakfast a success. With chief
Murray McArter cooking eggs 12 dozen at a time, they couldn’t be plated fast enough for all
