Huron County at its June 6
meeting passed a motion to hand
down its boundary bridges to lower-
tier municipalities.
The motion was brought forward
from the committee of the whole
meeting in May at which in a
recorded vote on the Huron East
councillors were opposed. Joe Seili
and Bill Siemon also opposed the
motion on Thursday. Huron East’s
third representative Bernie
MacLellan was absent.
The majority of the boundary
bridges are in Huron East. And while
the motion will see the bridges either
brought to county standards or
accompanied by a mutually agreed
upon one-time payment, Huron
East councillors have been
concerned.
At an earlier Huron East council
meeting, Seili expressed a feeling
that with the responsibility of the
bridges there should be funding to
go along with it.

Huron wondered when the results
would be known.
Manager of land ambulance
services Dave Lew said he had
received an e-mail that day saying
they were in the process of making
decisions and he expected an answer
by the end of the month.
***
Councillors supported a resolution
being sent to Huron-Bruce MP Paul
Steckle and MPP Carol Mitchell
urging that the per diem to residents
