It was a tough night for the Ethel
Squirts when they came to town to
take on their Brussels counterparts,
and went home defeated 19-9.
Taking turns on the mound for the
hosts were Nathan Watson, Adam
Cousins and James Dowe. Pitching
on the visitors side fell to Brittney
Rabek, Isaac Baker and Justin
Schott.
The Brussels offence was led by
Cody Higgins who stroked homers
in the second and third innings.
The Ethel squad started slowly
scoring no runs in the first, and
allowing five in the bottom of the
inning.
The team put on a stronger show in
their next at-bat with five runners
crossing the plate. But a solid seven-
run inning for Brussels made it tough
for the visitors to catch up.
In the third the hosts shut the door
on Ethel again, then brought in seven
of their own runners.
Not undone, Ethel had a strong
finish with a four-run fourth.
Catching for Brussels were Matt
Pipe, Watson and Higgins. Behind
the plate for Ethel were Justin
Schott, Baker and Mervin
Brubacher.
The team played Benmiller on
Monday night and will host Blyth at
7 p.m. July 2.
A little inside
The pitch, delivered by a Brussels Tiger, was just a little too
far inside to appeal to this Atwood Avenger. The two teams
met June 13 with Atwood getting on the bats early and
hammering several pitches into left field for extra bases,
prompting Brussels to make an early pitching change.

Have you noticed the new flags
of various colours on the greens? A
red flag indicates the hole is near
the front of the green, a white flag
indicated the hole is near the centreof the green and a black flag (a littlehard to see) indicates the hole isnear the back of the green. A
special thanks to Foxton Fuels for
donating the new flags.
