be meeting on June 27 at noon at the
Anglican Church. Speakers will be
present to discuss the CT scanner.
BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, June 17 was Randy
Fraser. Ushering were Cliff Snell,
Joann MacDonald and Lavern Clark.
Guest organist was Amanda
Swartzentruber.
The flowers at the front of the
church were from the funeral of
Eileen Haggitt. There were also
flowers in memory of Tom Smith
and Neil McCrea placed by Amy and
Ralph McCrea and in memory of
David Craig, Charlie Johnston and
Don Craig placed there by Marilyn
Craig and families.
Guest speaker Tom Dunbar
welcomed everyone to church and
wished all the fathers Happy
Father’s Day.
The choir anthem was One More
Step Along the World I Go. The next
hymn was Hallelujah, Hallelujah.
The children’s story was a story
of what the letters in father
represented.
The scripture readings were from
1 Kings 17: 8-16 and Luke 7: 11-17.
Ollie Craig led Psalm 5 responsively.
Maker in Whom We Live was
sung.
Tom Dunbar’s message to the
adults was, A Day for Dads … an
Eternity for One Father. He related a
story of a new father who could not
stop the baby from crying and finally
took it to the doctor to find out it
only needed a diaper change.
Dads seem to be at the butt of a lot
of jokes, he said. Dads play a very
important role in their children’s
lives. Dads are role models for their
children.
If the foundations are well laid a
child will grow up trusting God.
Father’s should put their faith in God
and show love, tolerance and
compassion and be honest and be an
example for their children, Mr.
Dunbar said.
Jessica Dunbar gave the minute
for missions.
Over 100 descendents of Walter
and Ethel Mason gathered for the
26th Mason reunion in Belgrave
park on Sunday. Family attended
from Brampton, London, Listowel,
Palmerston, Seaforth and the
surrounding area.
Residents of Dinsley Street will bereceiving a letter soon. At the North Huron councilmeeting Monday night, director of
public works Ralph Campbell said
information would be going out to
homeowners who would be affected
by the reconstruction work on
Dinsley this summer.
“We are letting them know that
there will be discoloured water and a
disconnection of the service,” said
Campbell.
The work is set to begin June 25
and is scheduled to be completed by
the end of August. Interruption in
service should be minimal. A question was asked about a boilwater advisory. Campbell said that anotice is being included with theletter. However, as the service willonly be disconnected for the switchto the new main, they didn’t
anticipate this would be a big issue.
“If the watermain is 20 below 20
pounds of pressure we have to have
a boil water advisory,” said
Campbell. “We are hoping that
won’t have to happen.”
The tender of Lavis Contracting
Co. Ltd. was accepted by council at
a meeting earlier this month.
Campbell said the project, which
takes in Dinsley Street from Morris
to John Streets, was estimated at
$633,000 without GST. The total tender price from Lavis, the lowest of three, is $642,985.40. “I’m very satisfied. Quite happywith the Lavis tender,” saidCampbell.Over the weekend of June 13-15
weekend, $1,000 worth of plywood
was stolen from construction site on
Martin Line, Morris-Turnberry.
Stolen was 45 sheets of 1/2 inch
plywood from the site.
The OPP is seeking the public’s
assistance in the matter. People who
may have seen anything over this
weekend that may assist the police
in their investigation are asked to
call the OPP or Crimestoppers at 1-
800-222-TIPS (8477).
