BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, June 10 were Emily
Dunbar and Marilyn Craig. Ushering
were Cliff Snell, Terry Richmond,
Joann MacDonald and Lois van
Vliet. Guest speaker was Rev. Gwen
Nichol-Macdonald. Guest organist
was Lynda MacGregor.
Rev. Nichol-Macdonald wel-
comed everyone to church. The Call
to Worship was read responsively
followed by the first hymn
Let All Things Now Living, the
prayer of Confession repeated
in unison and the Assurance
of Forgiveness. The Call to Celebration ofBaptism was repeated responsively. The children came to the front andRev. Nichol-Macdonald showedthem how 10 nails could besupported by just one nail andnothing else. She related this to God being theone nail and supporting us. Also the
church is one nail supporting all the
people who were being baptized that
day.
The baptism hymn was Out of
Deep Unordered Water. The clerk of
session presented the following
people to be baptized: Shayna
Maureen, Allison Elisabeth Ann and
Jessica Patricia Marie, daughters of
Heather and Greg Toll, Brinna Mary
Claire, daughter of Vicky and Jerry
Bremner, Cameron Alexander, son
of Kathleen Day and Tom Dunbar,Destiny Faith, daughter of AmandaFidom and Joseph Topor, BrodyAndrew John, son of Crystal andMark Pawitch and Nyla Michelle, daughter of Carla and Mike Pawitch.A lighted candle and a certificateof baptism were presented to thosebaptized.
The scripture reading was from
Luke 7: 11-17.
The choir sang an anthem,
Because He Lives.
Rev. Nichol-Macdonald reflected
on what baptism means and how the
congregation must help support the
families and those who were
baptized.
The choir sang On the Springtime
of My Years with Cheryl Cronin and
Avon Corneil singing a duet.
Flippin’
Sharon Thompson was out in the sun last weekend flipping
pancakes at Memorial Hall for the weekend breakfast. The
breakfast was scheduled in the middle of the first and
