The Citizen, 2007-06-07, Page 14Within the Circle was the theme
for the Maitland Presbyterial spring
rally held May 14. President,
Marjorie Deyell, chaired the
meeting.
Marian Raynard, the worship
leader from Ripley and Ashfield
churches, welcomed everyone to
Ashfield and led the group in
singing. The Ashfield Presbyterian
Church has been in ministry for 159
years.
Guest musician, Sarah Ritchie,
provided music both at the organ and
with the violin.
The Belgrave ladies led the
worship service. The Bible readings
were from Matthew 19: 13-15, The
Little Children of Jesus, and Mark 9:
33-36, Who is the Greatest.
Valerie Sharpe and Joan Threndyle
from Kincardine gave a report from
the 60th Annual Synodical meeting
held in Listowel April 17 and the
theme was WMS Reflections.
Honour the past. Celebrate the
present. Challenge the future.
Erlma Haldenby from Lucknow
gave a report from council.
Margaret deBoer introduced the
guest speaker, Lori Ransom, from
Healing and Reconciliation
Ministries. She spoke about dealing
with the reconciliation and healing
of the aboriginal people.
Her text from the Bible was 2 Cor.
4: 16-21. “Therefore, if anyone is in
Christ, he is a new creation; the old
has gone, the new has come. All this
is from God, who reconciled us to
himself through Christ and gave us
the ministry of reconciliation.”
She talked of how people are to be
ambassadors for Christ.
Evelyn Dickson thanked the
speaker.
The Belmore ladies extended an
invitation to the WMS fall rally to be
held Sept. 24 at Belmore.
The hymn Called As Partners in
Christ’s Service was sung and the
meeting was closed with prayer.
Everyone enjoyed lunch and social
time.
