The Walton Brewers hosted the
Belmore Jrs. on Tuesday evening.
On the mound for Walton was
Paul Dolmage who pitched the five-
inning game. Walton bats were hot
scoring eight runs in the first inning
on their way to a 14-4 win.
The Scotts were hot, with
Leonhardt and McDonald, both four
for four at bat.
Joining the Walton team for his
debut was Jamie Pearn, brother of
veteran team member Bruce Pearn.
The Walton-Brussels fastball
rivalry gave the Brewers the first
win as they visited the Tigers Friday
evening. On the mound for Walton
was Leonhardt who threw a no-
hitter in the complete seven-inning
game. He faced 21 batters, striking
out 18 and getting the other three out
at first, in the 5-0 victory.
Mark Feeney went two for two at
bat for Walton.
A small gathering of community
friends met at the Walton Inn to wish
Mary Humphries well in her new
home at Huronlea.
Mary received two beautiful
bouquets of flowers and a small
token from the group. They enjoyed
cake and coffee and had a lovely
morning visiting.
In attendance were Marjorie
Fraser, Helen Williamson, Kathleen
Williamson, Audrey Hackwell,
Mary Bryans, Margery Huether,
Marie McGavin, Pat Nolan, Jeanne
Kirkby, Leona McDonald, Helen
Craig, Dianne Flood and Carson,
Joan Perrie, Marilyn McDonald,
Judy Lee, Patty Banks, Judy
Emmrich and Anne Ryan who
provided the cake.
Also there were neighbours Gerry
Ryan and Clarence Flood along with
Neil McGavin.
Home for another week’s holiday
with Karen and Barry Hoegy was
daughter Sherry Delay from
Morristown, Tennessee.
Attending the Huron Perth
District annual Women’s Institute
meeting at the Listowel Agriculture
building were Walton members
Leona McDonald, Brenda Perrie,
Marion Godkin, Ruth Axtmann and
Margaret McMahon.
Congratulations to Jason
Thompson and Jennifer Rea on the
birth of a daughter Justice Lyn. Big
brother Jordan was very excited
about his new sister.
Congratulations to the former
Sandra Watson on her marriage to
George Webb. Gerald Watson of
Goderich was in attendance at the
small intimate ceremony in
London.
Dropping in at the Walton Inn for
lunch was former Walton area
friend, Anna McNichol, with
daughter Marg Lamont and Dianne
Miller. She was so pleased to see so
many old Walton friends including
Neil McGavin, whom she babysat
when he was just a wee boy.
Congratulations to Neil and Marie
McGavin who celebrated their 45th
wedding anniversary with family
and friends at their home.
Away working at the Grand
National Motocross race near
Courtland were gate girls Judy Lee,
Mary Bernard and Jo-Ann
McDonald. The second race in the
nine-race series culminates at
Walton in August.
It was hot, hot, hot and dusty but
we survived with no sand flea
attacks, freak wind swirls or
torrential rain trying to drown us.
It’s work but we have a great time
together laughing, singing and
joking around.Fishing was on the agenda for agroup of men this weekend. The annual Lindsay fishing tripincluded Waltoners, Matt, Masonand Brad Shortreed, Fred, Darrell,and Adam McClure, Matt Lee,Carman, Christopher and MikeBernard. They report the weather and
boating were good but the fishing
wasn’t that great.

11 a.m. with guest speaker Eleanor
Woods from Troy.
The food bank needs donations
including peanut butter, soup and
canned goods.
