Blyth had a few players missing,
which really affects a small team.
However they welcomed a new, first-
time player Caleb Haak.
Lucknow scored right off the top
of the game.
Blyth came back in fighting form
and scored the next two goals.
Brandon Shaff scored into the
bottom corner of the Lucknow net,
after picking up the pass from Jesse
Pot. Pot set up the ball for the next
goal for his teammate, Matt Steele to
take the lead in the game.
Blyth’s lead didn’t last long,
however, as Lucknow scored a goal
into the top corner of Blyth’s net.
Unfortunately Blyth got caught with
a handball in the crease and
Lucknow seized the opportunity andscored a goal on the penalty shot.Lucknow scored first in the second
half of the game after Blyth’s goalie
got caught coming out of his crease
to challenge the ball.
Pot earned his third assist in the
game after crossing the ball over to
Jordon Rinn, who passed the ball
over to Shaff for his second goal of
the night.
This was a very close game, but
Lucknow walked away with the win,
edging out Blyth with a score of 4-3.
Mark Siertsema won the title Man
of the Match for his outstanding
effort and good positioning in
defence.
Jacob VanDorp played a great
game and earned honourable
mention for his great effort covering
the net during the game.
Raising the bar
Shealyn Devore of Brussels Public School cleared the high jump bar with ease at last week’s
track and field competition. Ribbons fluttered everywhere, pinned on students’ shirts showing
their achievements over the course of the day. (Shawn Loughlin photo)

It was hot and humid on
Wednesday and 14 were out for
seniors action. There was a tie for
top spot between Bob Johnston and
Wayne Gordon. Bill Brown
captured the third prize.
Wednesday was a special day for
Clayton Ruppel as he not only came
up with some great shots but
celebrated his 87th birthday playing
golf.
And Clayton puts extra pressure
on his playing partners as he still
hits ‘em long and straight.
Clayton was serenaded by the
kitchen staff as they brought out a
suitably-decorated cake for the
occasion.
