with cancer on May 22, 2007.
A wonderful brother, Randy was
loved by Murray and Paula Cousins,
Cathy and Murray Mulcahy, Nancy
and Dave Hessel, and Janette and
Ken Ewan. Randy was a terrific
uncle to Devin and Amanda,
Courtney and Mitch, Nathan, Luke,
Bradley, Sarah, and Emma.
The life of the party, Randy will be
fondly remembered by his family
and many friends.
A celebration of Randy’s life was
held on May 26 at H.B. Beal
Secondary School in London, where
Randy proudly taught building
construction for many years.
To all those who attended the
memorial service, and to those who
sent expressions of sympathy, the
Cousins family is grateful for your
support and kind words.
SHIRLEY JEAN GERVAIS
Shirley Jean Gervais passed away
at the Fairvern Nursing Home on
May 19, 2007. She was in her 76thyear.The deceased was born atBrampton, Ontario on Jan. 31, 1932,
the daughter of the late Chester and
Myra Davidson, formerly of Burk’s
Falls.
She married P. John Gervais on
Aug. 31, 1963 at St. Mary’s of
the Assumption Church in
Huntsville.
Her husband resides in Hunts-
ville.
She is the dear mother of Pam
Chalmers and her husband Dwight
of Blyth. She is the cherished
grandma of Matthew, Rebecca and
Kathryn. Mrs. Gervais is the dear
sister of Helen Stewart of
Magnetawan, sister-in-law of Elsie
McCormack of Kearney, Muriel and
Francis Cousineau of North Bay,
Mabel Gauthier of Pembroke and
Smokey Gauthier of Pembroke.
She was predeceased by in-laws
Sam Stewart, Bob McCormack, and
Fay and Ted Slattery. Mrs. Gervais is
also survived by many nieces and
nephews.
Shirley enjoyed many summers at
their cottage at Oxtonge Lake. Shewas a homemaker with manyhobbies. She was honoured with alifetime membership in the UCW for
her hours of volunteer work. She
also volunteered as secretary of
many groups, but mostly with ones
within her church.
Pallbearers were Brian and David
Stewart, John McCormack, Marc
Cousineau, Dwight Chalmers and
Carl Januszczak.
Funeral arrangements were
entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home,
15 High St., Huntsville. The funeral
service was conducted by Rev. Eric
Shelley at Trinity United Church on
May 23.
Interment was at the Hutchison
Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a
charity of one’s choice would be
appreciated as expressions of
sympathy.

The McGuinty government has
given Huron County something to
feel good about this year.
HealthKick Huron was named
tops in the Innovations in Health
Human Resources category at
last week’s Celebrating Innova-
tions in Health Care Expo 2007
Awards.
The awards were announced by
Long-Term Care Minister George
Smitherman.
Awards were given to
organizations in six different
categories. Huron East councillor
Joe Steffler was on hand supporting
HealthKick Huron at the ceremony
as well as several others involved at
the ground floor.
The criteria for the awards
that HealthKick Huron excelled
at were innovation for the
entire health care sector,
easily replicated across the health
care system, smart, efficient use of
resources, integrated team work and
dealing with important priorities and
challenges.
HealthKick Huron beat out large
hospitals in Toronto and Ottawa to
take home the top prize in Human
Resources Innovation.
