It was a big victory for the EthelSquirts when they travelled to take
on the Belgrave B baseball team
May 20 for the season opener.
The visitors started slowly, getting
just one run across the plate in the
first inning. Their hosts came back
to score two and take a slight, but
early lead.
The next inning was a different
story, however, as Ethel brought in
seven runners, to Belgrave’s three.
Ethel continued its heavy hitting
with five in the third, one in the
fourth and three in the fifth.
Belgrave had two, two-run innings,
then was shutdown in the bottom of
the final outing.
Ethel won this one 17-9. On the mound for Belgrave were
Laura Higgins and Wes Thompson.
Britney Radek pitched the whole
game for Ethel.
Leading Ethel’s power hitting
were Isaac Baker with one homer
and Mitchell Dramer with two.
