The party comes right on the heels of a limo ride to Hanover for a special anniversary supper on April 13, their actual 50th The Campbells, of RR4 Wingham, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last weekend. Isabel and Peter Campbell had close friends and family members into their home last Saturday to celebrate their 50th year of marriage. The party, however, was just the tail end of the celebration, with a limo ride into Hanover for a lovely supper on their actual anniversary, April 13, preceding the party. In 1957 Isabel Daer, daughter of Bert and Dorothy Daer, of RR1 Auburn, was married to Peter Campbell, son of Oliver and Annie Campbell, of RR4 Wingham at Auburn manse in a ceremony presided over by Rev. Hiltz. Edna Ford (Daer), the cousin of the bride, and Hugh Campbell, the brother of the groom, were the attendants for the big day. The couple left for a honeymoon in Port Colborne and Buffalo. Peter spent his days as a transport driver and is now a retired farmer. Isabel, worked at a meat market for 10 years, was a homemaker for 15 years and a school bus driver for 31 years in addition to being active in the Belgrave WI and Bluevale Presbyterian Church. The Campbells had eight children, Ronald, Wayne, Marilyn, Carolyn, Murray, Dianne, Brian and Gayle. They now have 13 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren. Golden day for Campbells A spring walk The Brussels Cadets took it to the pavement last weekend walking from the Legion west, out of town to Nichol Line for a road clean-up. While it was cold and damp while they started their walk, the sun showed up right after, making for a better walk back. (Shawn Loughlin photo) BUY? SELL?
