Many people in the area attended the silent auction at North Street United Church on Saturday,April 28 for Camp Menesetung. There were over 100 items to bid on. Snacks and a beverage were served during the auction. A good time was had by all. Some items had some very competitive bidding on them. BLYTH UNITED CHURCH Greeting at Blyth United Church on April 29 were Barb and Terry Richmond. Ushering were Terry Richmond, Brenda Brooks and Elaine Brown. Guest organist was Elizabeth Stennett. Guest speaker, Barbara “Spoony” Hicks welcomed everyone to church. The choir sang an anthem Make Me A Channel of Your Peace. The children’s hymn was Trust and Obey. The children came to the front of the church during the last verse. Mrs. Hicks showed them a picture of Jesus and the sheep. If they looked closely at the picture they would see that the only sheep paying attention to what Jesus was saying was the black one. “We must pay attention so that we know what we are to do and be obedient,” she said. The scripture readings were from I Samuel 15:22 and John 14: 15-21. Mrs. Hicks’ message to the adults was The Blessing of Obedience. She spoke about the Good Shepherd and how sheep are fearful and suspicious and difficult to herd.
