BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on April 29 were Barb and Terry
Richmond. Ushering were Terry
Richmond, Brenda Brooks and
Elaine Brown. Guest organist was
Elizabeth Stennett. Guest speaker,
Barbara “Spoony” Hicks welcomed
everyone to church.
The choir sang an anthem Make
Me A Channel of Your Peace.
The children’s hymn was Trust
and Obey. The children came to the
front of the church during the last
verse. Mrs. Hicks showed them a
picture of Jesus and the sheep. If
they looked closely at the picture
they would see that the only sheep
paying attention to what Jesus was
saying was the black one. “We must
pay attention so that we know what
we are to do and be obedient,” she
said.
The scripture readings were from I
Samuel 15:22 and John 14: 15-21.
Mrs. Hicks’ message to the adults
was The Blessing of Obedience. She
spoke about the Good Shepherd and
how sheep are fearful and suspicious
and difficult to herd.

Earth week
Hot off the heels of Earth Day, Blyth Public School dispatched its students all over town to
clean up at various parts of the village. Here, Tiffany Conrad (left) and Amy Boyce get digging
under a shed at the Community Centre. Other members of their class were dispersed all over
the field picking up anything they could see that didn’t belong there. (Shawn Loughlin photo)
