Group met at the home of Barbara
Anderson on Tuesday, April 3, at
7:30 p.m. Her group was in charge
of the meeting and after welcoming
everyone, she read an article, Bs for
Believers.
Irene Lamont opened the worship
service with a poem, When Easter
Lilies Bloom and then gave the call
to worship. Lillian Campbell gave a
prayer and read John 11: 17-27. The
hymn,When I Survey the Cross, was
sung. Mrs. Lamont read the
meditation on Being an Easter
People, then closed the worship with
prayer.
The minutes were read and
approved and the treasurer’s report
was given. Mabel Wheeler reported
she had sent several get-well cards.
The Presbyterial April event was
announced for Wednesday, April 18
in Londesborough. The church
dinner will be held in the arena on
Wednesday, April 25.
Three members of the UCW will
attend the London conference
annual meeting in Sault Ste. Marie
April 28 - May 2. Westminster
Weekend was announced for June 8-
9-10 and two members will attend
that event.
The next general UCW meeting
will be held on Thursday, May 31.
The program was in the form of a
skit, Out of Order, which was taken
from the Mandate. Muriel Coultes,
Barbara Anderson and Sheila Nixon
took part, and tried to emphasize the
importance water has in life, and the
controversy over bottled water.
A good discussion was held on the
pros and cons of drinking bottled
water, and also the water situation in
Belgrave. Mrs. Coultes then
provided everyone with a quiz to do.
The next meeting will be May 2 at
the home of Mabel Wheeler.
A social time followed.

It has been a week of recovery
after last weekend’s busy time
with the auction at the Brussels
Legion.
Welcome back to Glenn and Jean
Bridge who have returned from
Florida.
Comrades Gordon and Isabel
Workman are progressing well and
hope to be home soon.
The Friday night supper will be
roast pork.
Thursday night darts saw Catrina
Josling and Marlene Little finish in
first. Second place went to John
Harrison and Heather Little. The
high shots were by Gord Jacklin
with 133 and Sandra Josling at 130.
The darters were aiming at two
new dartboards paid for by their
penalty quarters. They were
purchased from Ron Schmidt.
The group also thanks Sharon
Robbins for all the ‘kisses’ she so
willingly shared with all.
There were 9 1/2 tables
of euchre players on Saturday.
The top prize went to Neil Hatt
and Edna McLellan with 75 points.
In second were Jim Coultes and
friend George with 72 points.
The third-place prize went to
Clara and Jean with 69 points.
Low prize went to Carman and Ian
Pollock who earned 44 points. Lone
hand prizes went to Jean Bewley and
Ed Stewart.
Don’t forget the fish fry this
Saturday, the first of the season for
the Branch.

On April 4 Wawanosh 4-H met for
their first meeting of A Greener
House at June Robinson’s.
Mary Ellen Foran began
the meeting with the pledge
and introduced the leaders,
June Robinson and Marita
Oudshoorn.
Youth leaders, Ellen and Sophie
Jefferson led a game of Who Am I?
which helped the members get to
know one another.
For roll call all in members
brought in plants and showed them
to the club. Yolande Oudshoorn
brought in a dish garden, Charlene
Schramm brought an African violet
and Kalvin Van Massenhoven
brought English ivy.
Mary Ellen began the election of
officers. Meagan Higgins was voted
president, Melissa Higgins is vice
president, Jeanette Schramm is
attendance recorder, Maisy
Jefferson is treasurer and Reba
Jefferson volunteered for press
reporter.
Mary Ellen led a discussion about
the variety of plants you can grown,
which ones are easy to grow and the
bare necessities for plants to grow.
Members talked about the
importance of growing house plants.
June Robinson had plants ready for
members to take home which will be
grown and recorded throughout the
club.
President Meagan Higgins closed
the meeting with the 4-H song.
