31, 2007. He was in his 71st
year.,
Don was the beloved husband of
Marilyn Craig. He was the loving
father of Deb and Fred Hakkers of
Blyth, Doug and Joyce Craig of
RR2, Atwood and David Craig of
Blyth. He was the cherished
grandfather of Heidi and Jamie
Craig and Jon and Quinton
Hakkers. Don was the dear brother
and brother-in-law of Bodie and
Ollie Craig of Blyth, Joye and
Murray Kane of Fullarton and
Nancy and Ed Daer of Wingham.
He was the dear nephew of Jessie
France of Wingham. Don was also
loved by several nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by his
parents David and Annie Craig
and by a grandson Frederick
Hakkers.
Friends were received at the Blyth
Visitation Centre of the Falconer
Funeral Homes, 407 Queen St.,
Blyth on Monday from 2 - 4 p.m.
and 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service
was held at the Blyth United Church
on Tuesday, April 3 at 2 p.m.
Cremation has taken place.
As expressions of sympathy
memorial donations to the Clinton
Public Hospital Foundation or the
Blyth Fire Department would be
greatly appreciated.
Flowerbearers were Heidi and
Jamie Craig, Jon and Quinton
Hakkers, and Craig Henry.Pallbearers were Paul Craig, AllanKane, Jim Howson, Murray Black,

ALICE KEFFER
Alice Keffer passed away
peacefully at Listowel Memorial
Hospital on Tuesday, March 27,
2007. She resided at RR3, Listowel
and was born 71 years ago in East
Nissouri Twp., a daughter of the late
Bill and Nellie (Barker) Smith.
Alice was the beloved wife of the
late Lloyd Keffer who predeceased
her in 2000. She was the loving
mother of Linda and Tom Stevens
of Listowel, Wanda and Don Long
of Atwood, Dan and Brenda Keffer
of RR1, Listowel, Barb and Murray
Elliott of RR1, Listowel, Donna and
Jack West of Stratford, Robert and
Christine Keffer of RR1, Ethel,
Murray Keffer and friend Shelley of
RR3, Brussels and mother-in-law of
Bryan Secrett of Penetang and Jim
Jelfs of Stratford. Alice was the
special grandma of 22
grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren. She will also be
remembered by her sisters Audrey
Keffer of Listowel, Eunice and Jim
Aickenhead of Exeter and Carol and
Orlin Shoemaker of Blyth and by
many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her
daughters Lorraine Secrett and Dale
Jelfs, son Gary Keffer and brother
Donald Smith.

and friends to share their memories
at Peebles Funeral Home, 141 JohnSt.,Atwood, on Thursday, March 29from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. where the
funeral service was held on Friday,
March 30 at 11 a.m. Pastor Sandra
Cable officiated.
Interment was in Mount Pleasant
Cemetery, Ethel.

CHARLOTTE LAURETTA
MCBURNEY
Lauretta McBurney of Belgrave
passed away at Wingham and
District Hospital on Friday, March
30, 2007. She was 96.
She was the beloved daughter of
the late William and MaryJane
(Johnston) McBurney and dear aunt
of Allan and Helen Nicholson, Ross
and Lillian Nicholson, Barbara
Alexander and Gordon Thornton,
all of Egmondville and Elizabeth
Nicholson of Cambridge. Miss
McBurney was also survived by
several great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers
Samuel, William and Alex
McBurney, sisters Wilhelmina
McBurney and Catherine (Cassie)
Nicholson and nephews Murray,
Harold and Jack Nicholson.
Charlotte Lauretta McBurney was
born on April 13, 1910 in East
Wawanosh Twp. She attended
Stratford Normal School from
1929-1930. She taught four years at
Mohawk Institute in Brantford,often having as many as 62 pupils inher class. She also taught at Fordyce
and at Stone School in Morris Twp.
In 1943 she joined the Canadian
Naval Services (WRENS). She took
a nursing course in Sydney, Nova
Scotia, then went to nurse in
Newfoundland at St. John’s Naval
Hospital.
In 1945 she returned to teaching
in Calgary, Alberta and lived there
until 1978 when her brother Alex
became ill suffering from a stroke.
Alex died on April 7, 1979.
She purchased a home in
Belgrave where she resided until
she suffered a stroke herself on Feb.
26, 2007.
A private funeral service was held
at McBurney Funeral Home,
Wingham on Monday. Rev. Maggie
Myers officiated.
Interment was in Brandon
Cemetery, Belgrave.
Memorial donations to World
Vision, World Hunger Fund,
Wingham Hospital Foundation or a
charity of one’s choice would be

Mr. Elgin Penfound of RR1,
Londesborough passed away at
Clinton Public Hospital on Sunday,
April 1, 2007. He was in his 77th
year.
Elgin was the beloved husband
and best friend of E. Joy (Lutz)
Penfound who predeceased himMarch 17, 2007. He was the dearbrother and brother-in-law of
Dennis and Margaret Penfound of
Clinton, Lloyd and Vera Penfound
of RR1, Auburn, Mervyn and
Marilyn Penfound of Stettler,
Alberta, Mary Elliott of Thedford,
Shirley McNee of Bluevale, Rose
and Chas. Alison of Goderich,
Gloria and Adolf Aszmies of
Cambridge, William (Bill) and
Hermina Lutz of Goderich, Edward
(Ted) and Jennifer Lutz of Exeter.
Elgin was also loved and will be
sadly missed by several nieces,
nephews, great-nieces and great-
nephews.
He was predeceased by his
parents Wilfred and Olive (Wright)
Penfound.
Friends will be received at the
Londesborough United Church on
Thursday, April 5 from noon until
the time of the funeral service at 2
p.m. Rev. Pat Cook will officiate.
Interment will be at Ball’s
Cemetery, Hullett Twp.
Flowerbearers will be Bronwen
and Kimbra Young. Pallbearers will
be Steven O’Connell, John Young,
Bruce Penfound, Kenneth
Penfound, Alex Westerhout and Joe
Jankowski.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke
