THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, MARCH 29, 2007.HARRY GILLIS Harold William Gillis of RR2, Brussels, passed away at Seaforth Community Hospital on Monday, March 19, 2007. Born in Normanby Twp. on Oct. 21, 1925, Harry was in his 81st year. Harry was the beloved husband of Mildred (Philbrook) Gillis. He was the dear father of Louise MacDonald and husband Dennis of RR2, Crediton, John Gillis and wife Pat of RR2, Brussels, Lydia Dillman and husband Fred of North Star, Alberta and Kevin Gillis and wife Nancy of Wingham. He was also loved by his 14 grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews. Harry was predeceased by a son Tom, grandchildren Heather a nd Dean, and his brothers and sisters. A private family service was conducted at the Schimanski Family Funeral Home, Brussels, on Thursday, March 22 with Gail Clarkson of Duff’s United Church officiating. Pallbearers were Mark Gillis, Craig Gillis, Leslie MacDonald, Brian Regier, Sean Dillman, Murray MacDonald, Dan Campbell and Jessie Gillis. Spring interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Seaforth Community Hospital, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Duff’s United Church. Machan (Schultz) passed away peacefully at Seaforth Manor Nursing Home, Seaforth, on Tuesday, March 20, 2007. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Machan. She was the loving mother of Ethel Walker and Howard Allan of Brucefield, Robert and Theresa Machan of Blyth, Mary and Robert Fotheringham of RR4, Seaforth, Shirley and Ed Turner of London, and Don and Linda Machan of Wyoming. She was the cherished grandmother of 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great- great-granddaughter. She was the dear sister-in-law of Isabel Schultz. Selena will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Margaret Fielder,Amelia Nivens and by brothers Leslie, Ezra, Dalton, Reg, Carmen and Elmer Schultz. Friends were received at the Blyth Visitation Centre of the Falconer Funeral Homes, 407 Queen St., Blyth on Friday from 3 - 5 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. where the funeral service was held on Saturday, March 24 at 2 p.m. Rev. Pat Cook officiated. Interment will be in Blyth Union Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice would be greatly appreciated. Pallbearers were grandsons, Brian Machan, William Fotheringham, Mark Machan, Ron Walker, James Machan, Charles Walker, and Korey Machan. Flowerbearers were granddaughters, Kelly Turner, Elaine Binfield, Barb MacIntosh, Beverly Horst, RoseAnn Adams and Debbie Swanson. E. JOY PENFOUND Mrs. F. Joy (Lutz) Penfound of RR1, Londesborough passed away at Clinton Public Hospital on Saturday, March 17, 2007. She was in her 72nd year. Mrs. Penfound was the beloved wife and best friend of Elgin T. Penfound. She was the dear sister and sister-in-law of Mary Elliott of Thedford, Shirley McNee of Bluevale, Rose and Chas. Allison of Goderich, Gloria and Adolf Aszmies of Cambridge, William (Bill) and Hermina Lutz of Goderich, Edward (Ted) and Jennifer Lutz of Exeter, Dennis and Margaret Penfound of Clinton, Lloyd and Vera Penfound of RR1, Auburn and Mervyn and Marilyn Penfound of Stettler, Alberta. Joy was also loved and will be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews. Her parents William and Marjorie (Newman) Lutz and one sister Elizabeth (Betty) Lutz predeceased her. Friends were received at the Londesborough United Church on Friday, March 23 from noon until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Rev. Pat Cook officiated. Interment will be in Ball’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were her nephews Scott Allison, Dick Elliott, Adam Lutz, Doug McNee, Bruce and Kenneth Penfound. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Londesborough United Church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. MILDRED JACKLIN Mildred May (Thornton) Jacklin of Brussels, passed away at London Health Sciences Centre, Victoria Campus on Friday, March 23, 2007. Born in Mt. Elgin on March 17, 1923, Mildred was in her 85th year. Mildred was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence W. Jacklin. She was the dear stepmother of Gordon Jacklin and Debbie Cann, Don Jacklin and his wife Joyce, Marlene Rutledge and her husband Brian and Wayne Jacklin, all of Brussels. She was the dear sister of Harold Thornton of Listowel and Jean Noemer of Kitchener. Mildred was also loved by her seven grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren. Her parents Edmund and Edith and a sister Margaret predeceased her. At Mildred’s request, cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the Celebration of Mildred’s Life being conducted at Schimanski Family Funeral Home on Saturday, March 31 at 2 p.m. with Don Vair of Westfield Fellowship officiating. Interment of cremated remains will be in Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Westfield Fellowship or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Nelson’s grandfather is Shirley’s brother, Doug Brown and Nelson’s grandmother is Greg’s sister, Sue Brown. Congratulations to all. The Lions will be donning their bunny ears for breakfast on Easter Sunday. The Auburn Lions host a breakfast every second Sunday. April 8 is their next regularly scheduled feast.
