Good day everyone. We have had
some beautiful sunny days to enjoy
but five minutes outside and my hot
tea is iced tea. Everyday gets us one
day closer to complaining about the
summer heat.
A happy St. Patrick’s Day to all
the Irish out there. I am half Irish –
on my Scottish side. Hope you all
had a good day paying tribute to the
saint of green beer. Just kidding, but
I do hope you all had a great green
day.
March 18 is my sister Adele’s
birthday, and my wish for her is that
she had a day fit for a queen. A
better sister you couldn’t find and
I’m lucky enough to have four.
Sister Ruth celebrates her birthday
this week (March 24) and I sure
hope she has a royal day too.
In between all that celebrating,
niece Cristina Crowley, is having a
special birthday on March 22 a well.
Wow! All that cake and me with
no spoon. Your journey here’s only
half done – but see all the joy you’ve
already spun. Happy Birthday ladies.
On March 12, 12 members of the
Walkerburn Club met at the home of
Eileen McClinchey.
Deanna Snell opened the meeting
by reading You Choose, and
followed with prayer. Betty
Archambault read the minutes of the
last meeting and took the roll call,
which was answered with
breadmaker recipes.
Ila Cunningham gave the
treasurer’s report. Vera Penfound
gave a report on the eight quilts that
have been made and donated to the
breast cancer auctions. The quilts
have sold for a total of $2,265. Ila
Cunningham showed the quilt to be
donated for the 2008 auction. The
ninth quilt, This and That, will be
sold at the November auction.
Mrs. Snell showed a quilt pattern
and members decided to use it for
the next quilt. Mrs. Snell is to have
blocks ready for the next meeting for
the appliques to be put on, then they
will be passed on to the
embroiderers to finish.
The club members will be
travelling to Rest View Nursing
Home on March 27 to sing old-time
songs with the residents. Everyone
is to bring a few cookies and the
group will be carpooling.
Mrs. Archambault gave some
Irish readings and held two con-
tests.
Lunch was provided by Ethel Ball
and the hostess. This was followed
by a social time.
