Ethel Miner Clare’s welcome to the congregation was followed by the singing of In the Bulb There is a Flower and Kum Ba Yah. The Opening Prayer and We Say We Are Sorry were read in unison. The senior choir sang What a Friend We Have in Jesus, accompanied by Elizabeth Procter. The Responsive Reading was from Psalm 23. The children went to the front pews during the singing of the hymn Out of Deep, Unordered Water. Joyce Vincent, clerk of sessionpresented Hannah Grace Logan, daughter of Mike and Heather for baptism. Joyce presented the Logans with a candle to be lit at special times in Hannah’s life. She also presented them with a certificate and a book to share stories of the Bible and to also remember Hannah’s baptism. The Sunday school children promised to welcome Hannah when she comes to Sunday school. The scripture lesson was taken from Luke 15: 1-3, and 11-32. The children’s story was based on the scripture lesson and was entitled The Lost Son. There was once the man who had two sons. The youngerson was not happy at home. Hedreamed of an exciting life far away. One day he decided to leave his home. He went to his dad and wanted him to pay him for his share of the land. After the father gave the son the money, he went far away. At first he was happy, doing whatever he wanted to, going wherever he wanted to, and buying whatever he wanted to buy. Before long he had spent all his money and didn’t even have money to buy food. He got a job feeding pigs. He wanted to go back home but he was afraid his father would not like him anymore. He began the long trip home. He thought he could be a servant, insteadof a son. His father saw him comingand ran to meet him and hugged and kissed him. He decided to have a party. His son was lost, but now was found. God is like this father. He is full of joy when someone decides to obey him. Joyce Vincent and Doug Walker took up the offering. Birthday greetings were extended to Dr. Sanford Clare and Meaghan Carter. The closing hymn was I’m Gonna Live So God Can Use Me. Emily Bieman said the grace and lunch and fellowship followed in the basement. The church is open for prayer from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 22. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, MARCH 22, 2007. In information received at the the March 7 meeting, CAO Larry Adams said that health unit director Penny Nelligan had asked for direction from council on whether Huron would remain with a voluntary program or move towards a mandatory program. She presented three options. The first was to expand the voluntary program county-wide of identify vulnerable areas. This option should include a tank pumpout. The clean water project committee is exploring 50 per cent cost-recovery for the pumpout of septic tanks. Option two is to wait for the province’s mandatory septic reinspection program with accompanying legislation. The final option is to implement a mandatory program charging an inspection fee which will require a bylaw. Following a lengthy discussion a motion was made that the health unit prepare a report on the mandatory issuance of a septic reinspectiong report on individual septic systems when a property is sold. A motion to move forward with option 3 was tabled pending receipt of additional information. Nelligan was directed to research available funding to implement a voluntary septic system reinspection program. County committee tables motion on septic reinspection
