Hymn sing selections were All The Way My Savior Leads Me and Just A Closer Walk With Thee.The call to worship was readresponsively and the prayer ofconfession was repeated in unison. Rejoice and Praise Our God was sung, accompanied by Bill Andrews. The opening prayer was read in unison. The children’s choir sang two selections accompanied by Elizabeth Stennett at the piano and directed by Lila Procter. The responsive reading was Psalm 27. Doug Walker, chair of the official board, thanked all the members who had served on theboard and named all the newmembers who then came to the frontfor the covenanting service. The children gathered in the front pews after the singing of the hymn Jesus Friend of Little Children. Rev. Clare told the children that just as a mother hen protects her little chicks, so does Jesus protect all the people and wants them to do all the right things and live the way God would want them to. They should all stand with their arms wide open and always be willing to do what God wants.The minister gave the childrenitems so that they could make abracelet. Today they were supposed to put a heart on it for love. Each Sunday they will add to it. The children went downstairs for Sunday School. The scripture lesson was taken from Philippians 3:17, 4:1 and Luke 13:31-35. The sermon was based on the children’s story. Melanie Pletch and Michelle Burr collected the offering. The closing hymn was PreciousLord Take My Hand.The church is open for prayer eachThursday during Lent form 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. The session will meet on Thursday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the church. The World Day of Prayer will be held on Friday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at Knox United Church. It is led by the Presbyterian ladies. On March 9, Blyth Christian Reformed Church will host a fundraiser for Mission to Haiti Canada. Tickets will be available at the door for $5 apiece. The fundraiser gets going at 7:30 p.m. The fundraiser will take the form of a fashion show. Fashions will be featured from Weekenders ladies clothing. There will also be a portion of the night where ladies in attendance will learn things they can take home with them, such as tips on figure enhancement, colour selections and mixing and matching colours. In addition, after the show, ladies will have time to try on some of the night’s featured fashions and purchase them if they so choose. The night will feature refreshments, door prizes as well as a short presentation by Joanne VanAmersfoort. She will speak about her last trip to Haiti and discuss what might be in the future for Haiti. Blyth CRC hosts fundraiser for mission Our Purpose – How are We Doing was the theme for the Huron-Perth Presbyterial annual meeting of the Women’s Missionary Society of the Presbyterian Church held at St. Marys Presbyterian Church on Feb. 19. President, Ina McMillan welcomed 36 women, gave the opening prayer and led in the Call to Worship. All repeated in unison the WMS Purpose. Mrs. McMillan called on the host minister, Rev. Fraser and Friendship Auxiliary President Janet Gibson to welcome all in attendance. The minutes of the 2006 annual meeting were read followed by the business and announcements. Lois Horne, literature secretary, gave an interesting report on new books available. Laurine McIntosh of Motherwell- Avonbank PCW introduced the morning speaker, Mrs. Irene Richardson who spoke on the WMS meets Continued on page 17
