The Citizen, 2007-03-08, Page 8The Blyth Novices travelled to
Milverton to begin a best of five
series This first game saw Blyth end
up with a one-game lead.
The first 60 seconds had the fans
wondering how it was going to end
up. Milverton scored two goals in
the first shift on the ice.
The Bulldogs picked up their
socks and started their scoring in the
second period. The first goal was
scored by Hunter Dale with an assist
by Amy Boyce. Dale later added
another before the buzzer. Also
scoring were Chad Treble and
Brandon Marshall with two. Assists
wen to Dale, Cody Treble and Curtis
Weber.
Milverton scored one more in the
second to make it 5-3.
Scoring in the third were Brendan
Howson, and Marshall and Dale
with two apiece. Giving these guys
the help they needed were Chad
Treble and Justin Rodger.
The final score was 10 - 5 for
Blyth.
Sunday, March 4 the team hosted
Milveston in an exciting match.
Dale flipped the puck into the net
for Blyth’s first goal in the opening
period. Brendan Howson and Jordon
Hubbard set up the play.
Milverton came back with two,
taking a one-point lead in the second
period.
After the break, Cody Treble and
Amy Boyce handed off to Chad
Treble who slid one between the
pipes to even the score.
Unfortunately, Milverton kept the
pressure on and added two more to
take a solid lead.
However, going into the third,
Blyth was hot and blasted three
goals into the net. Howson skated in
unassisted to bring the team within
one.
With a nice wraparound and
rebound play, Dale score, assisted by
Howson. The next goal by Blyth was
a pass from out in front of the net by
Howson, to give Dale the chance to
score.
The game ened tied 5-5. The
overtime was not so kind to Blyth as
Milverton scored for the victory.
