Blyth was unable to add to the tally in the third, while Dalton Carey in net and the defence continued to thwart BCH’s attempts to score. The final was 5-0 for Blyth. Atoms shut door on BCH The Wingham Juveniles find themselves trailing Seaforth two games to none in their WOAA Juvenile semi-final series. On Saturday night game one took place in Seaforth. One would not have wanted to arrive late as there were six goals scored in the first period alone. Seaforth grabbed a 3-0 lead before Wingham started chipping back and had tied the game by the end of the period. Scoring the Wingham goals were Brandon Blake, Adam McClure and Charles Ireland. Assists went to Brett McPherson, Greg Bowers and McClure. With a short bench, however, and losing two guys to ejection, the team could not keep up to Seaforth and ended up losing this game 6-3. On Sunday the team returned to Wingham for game two and found themselves with a shorter bench than they had the night before. Two forward lines and four defencemen played this game and made quite a run. Seaforth again quickly got a 2-0 lead and Wingham once again came back to tie things up midway through the second on goals by Spencer Shaw (assisted by Adam MacDonald and Blake) and MacDonald (assisted by Spencer Shaw and Blake). Seaforth scored two more goals in the span of 46 seconds shortly after to regain a two-goal cushion going into the intermission. Wingham scored 40 seconds into period three to cut the score to 4-3 on a goal by MacDonald, with help from Shaw and Garrett Vincent. Seaforth would make things 5-3 and Vincent scored an unassisted goal with his team down two men, to make things 5-4. This set the stage for a great finish. Wingham found themselves with a two-man advantage in the final minute. With the goalie on the bench for the extra attacker and all sorts of pressure applied in the Seaforth zone, a clearing attempt from the Seaforth player made its way into the empty net to seal a 6-4 Seaforth victory and a 2-0 lead in the series. Coaches said, sloppy defensive zone play and lack of bodies hurt the team largely in both games this past weekend and if the tables are to turn in this series both areas must be improved. Game three of this series goes Friday night in a location to be determined (tentatively Blyth at 9 p.m.). Game four goes Saturday in Seaforth at 8 p.m. and game five goes Sunday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. in Wingham. Even match The Brussels Novice Bulls travelled to Blyth on Thursday night to play the local ‘Dogs. It was a close contest between these two squads with the hosts coming out on top by a score of 6- 5.
