Held wherever Scots and wanabesare in the world, the suppers are anation’s tribute to its poet laureate, ‘Rabbie’ Burns. Begun soon after his death in 1796, each dinner begins with Burns’ Address to a Haggis, that particularly Scottish dish that is the centrepiece of the evening’s meal. When the Haggis has completed its ceremonial entrance to the sound of the pipes and been properlyeulogized the meal itself is served.Surrounding the “Great Chieftaino the puddin’-race!” will be atraditional bill of fare featuringsmoked salmon, cock-a-leekie soupand roast beef, tatties, bashed neeps, scones and trifle. Dinner starts at 6 p.m. at the Brussels Legion, followed by 9 p.m. by a traditional Ceilidh, hosted by the Brussels Pipe Band. The Ceilidh will feature dancing to the Georgian Bay Islands, as well as Scottish Country Dancing and the traditional music of the pipes from the pipesand drums of the Brussels LegionBand.Supper tickets are $12 adult and $6 for public school children. A 40-year-old male resident of Huron East purchased e-bay tickets from a seller for $144. The tickets were obtained on Dec. 4 for a Motley Crue concert in London. The victim attended the concert and was pulled aside by concert security and advised that the tickets were reported stolen and had been voided as a result.
