Secretary Joan Bernard read the minutes and the treasurer Isabelle Wheeler gave the month-end report followed by the year-end report. The UCW Presbytery forms were completed. It was decided to hold a birthday party at Huronlea on Feb. 13 as requested in a letter. A discussion followed on dates for a dinner and show in lieu of a garden party for this year. The devotions began with a review of the Jan. 1 Daily Bread reading New Year’s Resolution, followed by a devotional on Choices We Make. Nelva Scott read the prayer and Sandra Cable read the scripture from Luke 10: 38-41. Betty Campbell accompanied the first hymn Seek Ye First The Kingdom of God. A poem entitled The Old Year Ends was read by Mrs. Scott. The meditation tells the story of Mary and Martha and later the story of Lazarus. In the first story Mary sat and questioned Jesus while Martha prepared food and in the latter story Martha ran to meet Jesus and the author suggests that Mary might be preparing food. These two sisters chose different things at different times. Later it talks about prioritizing busy lives in order to make good choices. The hymn Open My Eyes That I May See was sung and prayer closed the meeting. The next regular meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 6 at Maple Villa with Betty Campbell looking after the program and Audrey Cardiff bringing lunch. Crackers and cheese and Christmas cookies were served by Betty Campbell and Mrs. Scott.
