BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, Dec. 24 were Enid
MacDonald and Randy Fraser. Guest
pianist was Lyn Fischer. Ushering
were Rob Mason, Brenda Brooks.
The choir led the singing of the
processional hymn Once in Royal
David’s City.
The service was composed of
scripture readings of the first
Christmas, the singing of Christmas
hymns and the lighting of the Advent
wreath by the different families.
The choir anthem was Songs at the
Stable.
The Christmas Eve service was
held at 9 p.m. on Dec. 24. The
sanctuary was lit by candles.
Tom Dunbar welcomed everyone
to church. Amanda Swartzentruber
was pianist.
Rev. McGauley lit the Advent
wreath candles and the Christ
candle. The first hymn was Angels
from the Realms of Glory.
The choir anthem was When a
Child is Born.
Rev. McGauley’s message was the
story of Travelling from Bethlehem.
The scripture reading was from
Luke 2: 1-20. A moment of silent
meditation followed. The offering
was taken up during the singing of
the hymn It Came Upon a Midnight
Clear. The Great Prayer of
Thanksgiving was followed by
communion.
The last hymn was Silent Night
followed by the Blessing.
Seaforth came to Blyth last
Saturday to take on the Blyth Midget
girls Black Ice broomball team.
The girls gave the fans non-stop
action.
Black Ice scored first with Aislinn
Bremner and Karly Howard getting
the ball to Katelyn Roetcisoender to
put it away for the goal.
Seaforth came right back though.
Black Ice goalie Chantal Warwick
stopped an initial shot from Seaforth
offense, but got the next one past her.
Seaforth followed quickly with
another goal.
Black Ice came right back with a
goal by Marcedes Pavao with assists
from Roetcisoender and Cassie
Salverda, and a breakaway goal by
Howard.
Seaforth tied it up again, but
Larissa Jenkins scored from the
faceoff circle to win it for Black Ice.
