Golden Wedding Celebrated
Mr. and ,Mrs. Robert MeMichael,
highly esteemed life-long residents of
ft this district, on Monday, Dec. 151.11,
it celebrated their 50th wedding mini-
versary, A Turkey Dinner was served
at noon and attended by Mr. and
Mrs. Morley MeMithael, Mr, and Mrs,
Harvey McMichael, Mr, and Mrs,
Lloyd McMichael, also their ten grand-
children, brothers and sisters, Mr. and
I Mrs. David Weir, Mrs. Thos. McMic-
hael, Mrs, Archie McMichael, Mrs,
McTavish, Mrs, 'Prances Strong, Mr.
and Mrs. James Strong, Mr. and Mrs.
John Robinson, Mr. Richard McMic-
hael, Mr. Adam Strong, two sisters,
Mrs. Smith, New 'Westminster, B.C.,
and Mrs, Montgomery, Belgtave, were
unable to be present.
It was in 189'7 Annie Strong, daugh-
ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William
Strong, '6th line, Ilowick, became the
bride of Robert McMichael. They were
attended by the bride's sister, Ellen
Strong, wife 'of John Robinson, and the
late Archie McMichael. Rev. A. I.
Parney, Gorrie, now of Toronto, was
the, officiation* clergyman.
Oft their riftieth Anniversary The
home was tastefully decorated in gold.
The table was centred with a four-
tiered wedding cake, candles and gold
Chrysanthemums added to the effect,
The china used was* the 'bride's first
set of dishes, During the Afternoon and
evening, friends and neighbors tailed
to offer congratulations, eighty signing
the guest book, Relatives `and friends
were 'present from clgrave, Wing-
ham, Toronto, Pordwich, Gotrie And
Listowel, The happy couple were pm-

spending Christmas vacation with her

Mrs. David Draper is assisting Mr,
and Mrs. A. Meahen in the post ‘office,
Mr. Glen Wylie, Toronto University,
is a visitor with his parents, Mr, and
Mrs, Greer Wylie.
Mr, Thos, Jacklin has returned from
Wingham General Hospital, where he
underwent an operation. We are pleas-
ed to know he is making a good recov-
ery.
Miss Marjorie Allen, Toronto,
spending the Chriitinas rvacation with
her grandparents, Mr, and Mrs, J, N.
Allen.
Miss Florence David is spending a
few days with her parents at Orange-
hill.
Mr. and Mrs, H. V. MacKenney,

St. James Service
Special' Christmas services were held
in St. James Anglican Church, with
Rev, James Cale in charge, A Carol
was sung by the choir. FolloWing the
Sunday School hour Superintendent,
Mr. Mathers distributed gifts and
treats to the children from a lovely
Christmas Tree.
Women's Institute
The January meeting of the Wo-
men's Institute will be held on Wed-
nesday,- the '7th, at 2.30 p.m., at the
home of Mrs. J. N. Allen. Current ev-
ents will be given by Mrs. Reg. Pacey.

Wroxeter School Concert
Town Hall with a lovely Christmas
Tree and decorations in keeping with
the festive season was a gay and col-
orful setting, for the annual Public
School entertainment; which took
place Thursday night, with a good
crowd in attendance. Rev. U. E. Cron-
hielm was chairman and in his remarks,
told of Christmas customs in China
where he spent some years as a Mis-
sionary. Urider the direction of prin-
cipal. Harold Hamilton and Mrs. Wear-
ring, teacher of the Primary room,
with Miss K. Hazelwood as accompan-
ist, the following programme was pre-
sented. Carols, 9 Come all ye Faith-
ful, We Tliree Wise Men' of Orient,
Silent Night, Christmas Day Chorus
by School pupils, Dialogue, Boys
Rights, Sr. Boys. Action Song, Grade'3
girls; recitations Tom Howes, Jamie
Sanderson, Larry Snell;- Solo, Santa
Claus Helper, Ruby Sanderson; Rhy-
thinn Band, Junior Boys and Girls;
recitations, Carol Millward, Bill
Brown, Solo, Faye Smith; Hanging the
Stocking, Grade 1, Highland Fling
danced by Marjorie Moffat. Solo,
Larry Durst, Dialogue, How the Story
Grew, Sr. Girls; Chorus, Christmas
Morning, Junior Room. Duet,
Evelyn Anger, Marilyn MacLean; reci-
tation, Ronald Higgins; Song, Sr. room
girls; Flag Drill, Senior Girls; Calling
Santa Claus, who arrived at the prop-
er time and delighted the children with
presents and treats. Mr. Hamilton ex-
pressed appreciation to those who in
any way assisted with the concert and
announced the net proceeds would be
given to the work of the Junior Red
cross.
Principal Hamilton, Mrs. Wearring,
the pupils and accompanist are to be
congratulated on the success of their
annual Christmas -Entertainment,
Christmas Services
Special services were held in United
Church on Sunday, Rev, U, E. gron-
hielm was in charge. Christmas hymns
were used with an anthem by the choir.
A basket of Chrysanthemums placed
in the church by Mr, and Mrs. Harvey
McMichael added to the beauty of the
service. A Carol Service was held in
the evening when choir and congrega-
tion joined in singing Holy Night, Sil-
ent N igh t, Hark the Herald Angels
Sing,' It Came upon the Midnight
Clear, The first Nowell, While Shep-
herds, Watched, Gentle Mary laid her
Child, God rest ,you Merry Gentlemen,
A special number was contributed by
the choir who were assisted by Mrs.
Harold Hamilton who sang the Little
Mangei and Mrs. MacNaughton recit-
ed The Little Grey Cottage.
School Entertainment
Lane's School was the scene of a
Happy Christmas Party on Monday
evening, Dec, 15th, when the pupils
and their teacher, Mrs. Wm, Wright,
presented their annual Christmas Tree
and Entertainment. Trustee Fred
Doubledee'svas chairman and the lovely
seasonable decorations made a suitable
setting for the following numbers:
Opening Chorus, If we were you and
you were us, followed by recitation's
by two pre school girls, Mae Double-
dee' and Lpis Fitch; recitation, Greedy
Peter, ,,Ardelle Westlake; Shadow
Play, "Shoes of Truth. Action song by
the Juniors. Here we go round the
Christmas Tree. Recitation, Taking
Hints, by Joyce Haugh; an outstand-
ing number was "The Star Drill" by
seven girls. Recitation Unfair to small
boys, by Wayne Woods; Dialogue,
Mouse to the Rescue; Recitation, See
What I got for Christmas, Shirley
Simmons; piano solo, Starlight Waltz,
by Berna Gallaher; dialogue, Christmas
Memories gave an opportunity for the
following Christmas Carols; Chorus, It
came upon the Midnight Clear; 0 Lit-
tle Town of Bethlehem, Girls Trio,
Hark the Herald Angels Sing; Boys
Trio, We three Kings of Orients Are,
Duet, Silent Night; Chorus, Angels
we have heard on high, Short Dialog-
ue, Santa is Late!, and a chorus, Santa
is on his way. His arrival was a climax
to the evening when from a gaily dec-
orated Tree, he distributed gifts to
both old and young also a bag of candy
to all children plYesent, Words of ap-
preciation were expressed to Mrs,
Wright and pupils also Mrs. Brothers
of Wroxeter, who was accompanist for
the programme. Mr. Doubledee made
an excellent chairman, Following the
singing of The National Anthem, re-
freshments were served. Dancing was
enjoyed, 3Iffin's Orchestra providing
music.
Former Rector Receives Gifts

carried an item of interest to many

Crossley car, The gift was delivered
into the common room of the College,

with. us, Greetings to all who read this
column both here and across country.
To those far away, your home town is
as always, keeping the Christmas. The
stores are dressed for the occasion,
from the village churches and Town
Hall, there come the voices of the
children singing the Christmas Carols.
Everywhere is the holiday spirit. Out
of doors in the words of James Rus-
sel Lowell; the snow had begun in the
gleaming and busily all the night, had
been heaping field and highway, with
a silence deep and white. Indoors, the
Christmas Tree Warmth, the prepara-
tion of Turkey and Plum Pudding for
the holiday Home comers, and so from
your home town we greet you. May
you have friends and kindred and a
thousand pleasant hopes that fill your
heart with happiness.
