Extensive repair work done on Manse including papering and painting.. A gift of $25.00 was voted to church funds, $100,00 was voted towards the setting up of a fund for church renovation with further donations to be made to this project. Rev. U. E. Cronhielm took charge of the election of officers.' All were re-elected as follows: President, Mrs. Wm. Hart; Sec., Mrs. Leslie Dou- glas, Assist Sec., 'Mrs. C. Gibson and Mrs. Leslie Douglas were hostesses at the tea hour. Mrs. Vern MacDonald and Mrs. A. Gallaher will have charge of the January meeting. Christmas Services December 21 Special Christmas Services will be held in the United Church on Sunday morning, December 21st., at 11 a:tn. In the evening at 7:30 o'clock a Carol Ser- vice will be held to which all are cord- ially invited. Women's Missionary,Society "Christmas" was the theme of the. December meeting of the Women's Missionary Society, United Church, which met in the church parlotirs on Friday afternoon. The President, Mrs. A. Munro opened with the words, Q Sing a Song of Bethlehem, Of Shep- herds watching there, and of the news that came to them, from Angels in the Air. The light that shone on Bethle- hem fills all the world today, Of Jesus Birth and Peace on Earth, the Angels sung alway. 0 Little Town of Bethle- hem, Joy to the World and Silent Night were the Carols sung. Mrs. Mac- Naughton led in prayer. The Christ- mas Story from St. Luke's Gospel was read by Mrs. Cronhielm, Mrs. Hamil- ton accompanied by Miss Hazelwood sang, "The Little Manger," The Sec- Treas., Mrs. Vern Denny gave a very encouraging report on the year's work. Mrs. Muno and Mrs. John Gowdy gave reports on the recent Sectional meet- ing in Bluevale, and especially com- mented on the address of the returned Missionary, Misi Edythe Sparling, Mrs. Hamilton, Christian Stewardship Secretary read a letter from Miss Hel- en Hurd in which she expressed appre- ciation of the three parcels forwarded from the local branch to japan, Also a letter was received from Mrs. Kirby, Presbyterial officer, asking that special prayers be made for MISS Clara Pres- ton of Ronan, China, Others responded to the Roll Call with a favourite Carol. Choice poems including one from Patti. int Johnston's Book entitled "Christ- mas tide", Miss Hazelwood and Mrs. Palmer were named a nominating com- mittee for 1948. The President expres- sed thanks to all taking part and ales for Co-operation of officers and mem- bers during the year. The proceeds of the concert held in Wroxeter Hall will go to the food for Britain Fund, the W. I. will add over ten dollars more to the amount, Letters of appreciation were read. A committee was named to prepare Xmas boxes for Shut-ins. The Course, "The Milky Way," tak- en by the girls has been completed. Erland Gregg will have the honour to attend the course given at the 0.A.C., Guelph, during the Xmas holidays. The girls taking these courses have shown great interest, have taken high marks, Ithe Institute can feel proud of them in- deed. The Motto, "I will honor Xmas in my heart, I will try to keep it all the year, was taken by Mrs. W. King, A basket of gifts was brought in and exchanged, making it a real Xmas party. *Mrs. Gibson of Fordwich, gave a demonstration of simple Christmas decorations for the table that were very pretty at little or no cost, also a wreath and Xmas stocking that were really beautiful. The Roll Call, was "My Idea of Xmas Gifts". A dainty lunch with Christmas trimmings was served by the hostess and Mrs, T. Bradnock and Mrs. 'E. E.
