Ted Whitby, our Night Police did a
smart piece of work on Sunday. When
snaking his rounds that night he saw
a parked car with a license number
that seemed familiar, and :remembered
that it was a number recently received
on a police bulletin.
The owner of the car was wanted on
four charges of false 'Pretenses in
Brantford, Ted immediately arrested
him and notified the Provincial Police.
-Oh Monday the Brantford. police arriv-
.ed in town, a$l he was removed to
-that city.
This is not the first occasion on which
Ted has spotted a license plate from
A police circular. Recently he saw a
motorcycle, carrying a license of a
stolen machine, and on investigation
-four motorcycles were recovered.
To be a member of The Wingham
General Hospital Association is a pri-
vilege as well as a duty. It is common
knowledge that Hospitals are not mon-
ey making institutions and it is a fact
that many well run hospitals do not
break even on finances but require and
depend on public support to keep oper-
ating.
Our fine new Hospital, filled to cap-
acity almost continuously has been able
to meet its operating expenses to date.
The Building Fund debt has been very
considerably reduced. Progress has
been good. Wingham is pointed to as
an outstanding example of what can be
accomplished outside the, big cities in
excellent Hospital accomodation.
The Hospital Board has broad plans
for further improvements in plant and
equipment as soon as its finances per-
mit. Only a strong Hospital Associa-
tion can provide the EXTRA money
for improvements and only-by improve-
ments can we continue to hold our
present position of leadership in Hos-
pital Accomodation, Much money for
this purpose must come from Hospital
Association Memberships. There are
many hun*1s- of families in our Hos-
pital Service Area and The Board is
asking that each family have at least
one membership.
Payments for 1948 memberships are
now being received and it will be much
appreciated if 1947 members will make
an early response to this request for
renewal. Last year, memberships of all
kinds totalled nearly four huhdred. Is
it too much to ask that we at least
double that number this year? There
are many who have been looking for-
ward to some opportunity to help the
Hospital. Here it is! Five Dollars buys
a one year membership. Twenty-five, a
six year membership, Fifty, a twelve
year membership, and One Hundred, a
Life Membership.
Members are entitled to the privilege
of being nominated for the office of
.Digector-oLtim,latogrd 40 IV
to attend and vote at the annual meet-
ing.
Life members receive a beattiful Life
membership certificate, have their nam-
es inscribed on a Life Membership roll
to be hung in a place of Honor in the
Hospital and automatically become
members of The Hospital Century
Club.
Since the goal of this Club is at least
one hundred life members and since
that goal is so nearly reached time act-
ual election of its officers has been
postponed temporarily in the hope that
we shall go over the One Hundred
mark soon. Do not postpone this im-
portant matter. Buy your membership

not, the best you can,
