'Elie meeting was . held in the church and the social hour spent at the home of Miss Jessie Scott. A very pleasant evening was spent. The meeting opened with the presi- dent, Mr, Glen Schiefele, welcoming the young people and introducing the leader of the Young People of Harris- ton, Mr. Ted Werle, who led in a sing- song. Prayer followed by Mr. Frank C011ar. Mr. Werle spoke a few words of appreciation for being so kindly invited to 'Wingham. He asked "How do we know the 'Christian, are they smiling and showing Christ in their appear- ance?" After these few brief words Rev, Pace took charge of the weeting. Mrs. Johnston conducted a Bilne Quiz which was much enjoyed. Mr. Ted Werle sang in his pleasing manner "His eye is on the SparroW" and "He's My Friend' -accompaniedat the piano by Mr, Lyle Bride. Mr. Bride contributed a piano solo, entitled "On- ward Christian Soldiers", A trio, "The Lord is ,My Shepherd" was sung by Misses Elsie Gibson, Ruth Gibson and Kathleen Diamond. Rev. Pace brought a short message to Young People. He spoke of their responsibility as Christians, basing his remarks on 1 Timothy 4: 12-14, Young People should carry a bright glowing testimony oti their faces. Their Chris- tianity should be upheld by the Word, conversation, charity and love. He used many fine illustrations and warned them that the world watches the Chris- tian. The result was I was summoned to court for selling without a town license. My applicatton for a license was thrown out -Without any inspection being made whatever of what stock I had on hand. One thing is sure the more you shovel and work with coal the more dust and small broken pieces you leave. They must have lots of coal in sight front some place. I distributed a very good tar of stove coal and am sorry for my cus- tomers sake and also for my own to be shut off in my own town and if a lot of you are short of fuel this winter it is entirely the responsibility of the town council. My quota was two hundred and fifty ton with four cars still to be delivered, I ant forced to cancel this, autount of orders, from Wingliatt, When unloading last week a real good business man off the street t ame to my ear and asked for coal, any amount at all because his lire was going out and he had tailed every other coal ther., chant in 'Wingham and each in his tarn reported no coal on hand. Of course this makes Z. easy work when bookkeeping is considered, I notice my invoke front last Spring and for this car now delivered only show an advance of one dollar per ton. I really think that if the council wanted to do -a good-service for the people of Wingham in passing by-laws that they might pass a. by-law that all coal sold in Wingham would be weighed on the 1.1 town scales and a ticket produced from The Chief for the correct weight.
