Brick Church congregation, 'held a
Banquet in S. S. No. 11 School room
on Monday evening. A good program
followed the splendid ham supper and
the Mission Band held their Bazaar
during the evening.

day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gregg

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cameron of
Lucknow spent Thursday at the home
of their daughter, Mrs: Mason Robin-
son, and they left on Satutday to visit
at the home of their son, Mr. Glenn
Cameron of Powasson.

ing steady improvement 'during the
past week.
Miss Muriel Watt spent the week-
end at the home of Miss ,May Wight-
man of Westfield.

Wayne returned. home on Friday after
spending the week with Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Gillespie at Huntsville.
Mr. Edwin Irwin and Misses Lillian
and Jean of Goderich, visited on Sun-
day at the home of his brother, Mr.

Miss Eileen Yeomans who through
the war years made her home with
Mr. and 'Airs, Jas. Macllrath, landed
recently in England to visit with her
father, Mr. Ernest Yeomans, at Bur-
ton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, making
the trip home - by boat, Her many
friends here wish her a pleasant visit
in her home land,
and Mrs. Will. Underwood and
Teddy, Toronto, spent the week-end at
the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Jas. McIlrath.

A quiet marriage was solemnized at
the Presbyterian Manse, Whitechurch,
with Rev. W. S. Sutherland officiating.
when Miss Celia Wilson, daughter
Mrs. T. Wilson of Lucknow, became
the bride of Mr. James Aiteheson son
of Mr. Archie Aitcheson of W. Wawa-
nosh and the late Mrs. Aiteheson. The
happy couple will make their home in
Lueknow. The many friends of the
groom ht this eontntunity extend best

owned Newfoundland hotel at St,
Johns (if ,asked); postal and publicly-
owned telegraph services; civil aviation,
including the huge Gander airport; de-
fence; customs and excise; pensions
and war veterans and merchants sea-
men's rehabilitation; fisheries; marine
services; the public radio broadcasting
system; "other public services similar
ill kindto those provided at the union
for the people of Canada generally.
4. Canada will assume payment of
the salaries of the Newfoundland Lieu-
tenant-Governor and the judiciary.
5. Canada assumes the servicing and
retirement of Newfoundom and matur-
ing between 1943 and 1963,New-
foundland will be liable for the rest of
its debts,
6, Newfoundland will retain its ac-
cumulated financial surplus of about
$32,000,000 but one-third will be set
aside during the first eight years of .
union to meet possible budget deficits.
7, Canada will pay annually to New-
foundland $180,000 and 80 cents per
head of population, subject to increases
under the British North America Act
scale.
8. The new province will receive
$1,1000,000 annually in lieu of 'the fixed
awards provided for the Maritime
Provinces.
9, Newfoundland may exercise a six-
months option on signing a Dominion-
Provincial agreement on the same fi-
nancial terms as other provinces.
10. Canada will pay "transitional
grants" of $3;500,000 a year for .three
years, tapering by $350,000 a year for
12 years.
11. Within' eight years, a royal coin-
mission will re-assess the financial po-
sition of Newfoundland with a view
to recommending any additional finan-
cial aid. needed to continue public ser-
vices,
12. Newfoundland will have six sen-
ators (fixed) and seven members of the
House of Commons, on the basis of
present population.
13. Canada will maintain the steam-
ship service between North Sydney,
N.S., and Port Aux Basques, Nfld.
