ONTARIO TO DROP
OWN LIQUOR ACT
In Areas Where Canada Temperance
Act Is In Force
Huron andPerth Counties, two of
three areas stilk, under the Canada Tem-
perance Act, are affected in an impor-
tant amendment to the Liquor License
Act, proposed in the Ontario Legis-
lature on Friday by Hon, Leslie Black-
well, attorney general.
In the past, there has been confusion
as to the enforcement of liquor laws
in areas where the Canada Temperance
Act, a federal statute is in operation.
Under the suggested change, the gov-
ernment will make no effort to enforce
the provincial law, leaving the areas
under the Temperance Act.
High School Activities
On Monday, October 20th., the boys
of Wingham High School journeyed to
Clinton to pay a return visit to the
Clinton boys. A baseball game was
played in the Clinton Town Park. Our
boys showed a big improvement over
their form in the game which Clinton
played here. Only the team itself rep-
resented the .Wingham School, but a
good crowd of Clinton boys and girls
were present, and witnessed a good,
close game, that was in doubt until the
last inning. The final score brought
Clinton out on top again, but this time
only by a margin of one run, with
Clinton 13, Wingham, 12.
Waterworks Plan Rejected at Blyth

pinions by a count of 111 against and
