FORTY YEARS AGO
Double Wedding—One of these ex-
ceedingly interesting events enlivened
the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Wil-
le,ts, of Turnberry, on Wednesday of
this week, The brides are, Miss May
Willets who was wedded to Mr. John
Henry, and Miss Victoria Willets, who
became Mrs. Percy Copeland.'
Excavating Completed—The excava-
ting for the new building for the Can-
adian Bank of Commerce was complet-
ed last week, and work began on the
foundation on. Monday mornin'g, (Ed.
note: Now Dr. Connell's office.)
High School Notes—A piano has
been-installed in the Assembly Room,
and melodious strains such as Silver
Bells, and numbers from Mozart, Bach,
etc., echo through the corridors during
the time the classes are not in session.
The lime-light views of the Old Land,
given by Dr, Macdonald in the Assem-
bly Room Tuesday evening, were very
much enjoyed by all, The vote of
thanks to Dr. Macdonald was moved
by Mr, Harry Green and seconded by
Mr. W. Earngey,
Local Iteins—Two entertainments,
"Dolya, the Tea Girl," on the 23rd,
and "The Beggar Student," on the 24th,
will be given in the Opera House by
the Wingham Lawn Bowling Club,
Messrs. 'D. T. Hepburn, L. Hanson, f,
R. Macdonald, A. M. Crawford, T.
Cochrane and Wm. Stapleton left on
Monday for the hunting grounds of the
fleet-footed deer. -
Bluevale—Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Ruttan have removed from Jamestown
to Bluevale, Mr, Keyes has moved
into the late Mrs. Duncan's house- and
Mr. Leonard Ruttan has moved into
his house, until lately occupied by Mr,
Keyes, Rev. W. J. West has been
building a cottage at the lakeside.

are visiting at Tara and Dobbinton this
