THANKSGIVING MENU

FRESH LIMAS
Bring salted water to a boil (about
an inch in the bottom of saucepan).
Add a quart of shelled greeh limas and
cook 25 to 35 minutes (depending upon
freshness of beans) in tightly covered
pan. Serve them with salt, pepper and
butter or make a cream sauce using the
pot liquor for part of the liquid and top
milk thickened with cornstarch,
SQUASH .PIE FILLING
2 cups stewed and sieved squash
2 cups whole milk, 1 cup brown
sugar, 2 eggs, Y2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp.
vanilla, 1 tsp. cinnamon, 112 tsp. gin-
ger, 1 tbsp. butter, melted.
Beat the eggs and add to the milk.
Add spices and salt to sugar and
squash and blend well. Add to milk
and egg mixture along with vanilla and
melted butter. Pour into pastry-lined
pie dish and bake in an electric oven
350 F. for 50 to 60 minutes.

Tongue.
Answer;
Spiced Tongue
1 beef tongue, dash of all-spice,
'4 tsp, cloves, 1 tsp, chopped
thyme, 1 tsp. chopped marjoram,
dash of salt and pepper, 3 tbsps.
lemon juice.
Cover tongue with boiling water.
Add spices and lemon juice. Simmer
gently about 3 hours, or until tongue
is tender. Remove skin and roots be-
fore serving.
Mrs. N. C. asks ice cream recipe
using cereal cream and coffee.

cook, as mixture will curdle.
Remove from heat and cool. Beat
egg whites until stiff, gradually add re-
maining quarter-cup of sugar. Fold
egg whites into cooled custard mixture.
Add flavorings. Turn into freezing
tray. Freeze at "fast freeze" stirring
occasionally during the freezing, Yield:

The Liquor ,Control Board of On-
tario has recently issued a new edition
of the Liquor Control Act, as amended
up to July, 1947. We herewith give a
few of the important clauses which ap-
ply to Canada Temperance Act Coun-
ties, where the two acts are enforce-
able.
1. No person shall. permit drunken-
ness to take place in any house or on
any premises of which he is the owner,
tenant or occupant; or permit any per-
son apparently under the influence of
liquor, to consume any ,liquor in any
house or in any premises of which lie
is owner, tenant or occupant,

2. No person shall consume liquor in
any place other than a residence.

3. No person shall be in an intoxi-
cated condition in a public place.

4. No person under the age of twen-
ty-one years, shall apply for, attempt to
purchase, or otherwise obtain liquor.

5. Any provincial police or constable
has power, without warrant to search
any person or place where liquor is
unlawfully kept or had, (127 L.C.A,)
6. When a police officer finds liquor
in any vehicle,, contrary to the provi-
sion of this act, he may seize the liquor
as well as the vehicle. (130 L.C.A.)
7. No person may canvass for, re-
ceive, take or solicit orders for the pur-
chase or sale of any liquor, or act as
agent or intermediary for the sale or
purchase of any liquor, or hold him-
self out as such agent or intermediary,

8. Every railway company, express
company or common carrier, must pro-
duce and submit for inspection, any
book, record or document, when re-
quested to do so, by any officer or

any information is given to
any provincial police inspector, con-
stable or other officer, that there is
cause to suspect that some person is
contravening any of the provisions of
, this act, it shall be his duty to make
diligent, inquiry into the truth of such
information, and to enter complaint of
such contravention before the proper
court, without communicating the name
of the person giving such information,
and it shall be the duty of the Crown
attorney within the county in which
the offence is committed, to attend to
the prosecution of all cases submitted
to him by an inspector or constable.

Extract from The Canada Temperance
Act, in effect in Huron, Perth & Peel
Section 127 reads as follows:
Every one who by himself, his clerk,
servant or agent, in violation of Part
11 of this Act,—
(a) exposes or keeps for sale, any in-
toxicating liquor; or
(b) directly or indirectly, on any pre-
tense, or by any device, sells or bar-
ters, or in consideration of the pur-
chase of any other property, gives to
any person, any intoxicating liquor; or
(e) sends, ships, brings or carries, or
causes to he sent, shipped, brought or
tarried to or into any county or city
any intoxicating liquor; or
(d) delivers to any consignee or other
person, or stores, warehouses, or keeps
for delivery any intoxicating liquor so
sent, shipped brought or carried; shall,
on summary convietioti, :be liable to a
penalty for the first offence, of not
less than fifty dollars, or more than one
hundred, or imprisonment fora term
not exceeding one month, with or with-
out hard labour, and for a second and
every subsequent offence, to imprison-
ment, for a tam not exceeding four
months, with or without hard labour.
Section 117 of the C.T.A., reads as fol.=
Paragraphs '(e) and (A) of 8ubstc-
tion 1 of this section Shall not apply to
any intoxicating liquor sent, shipped,
brought or carried 'to any person or
persons for his or their personal or
family -use, except it be so sent, shipped
brought or !carried to be paid for in
such county or city to the person de-
livering the same, his Clerk, servant or
agent, or his master or principal, if the
person 'delivering it is himself, a ser-
vant or agent,

low any person to buy and bring liq-
uor to 'himself; it must be shipped by
a caritrion carrier.
