Seventeen members Were present

for their September meeting, President

A very successful auction sale of
Household goads was held at the home
of Miss Cassie Harris on Saturday af-
ternoon. Frank Kemp of Listowel was
the auctioneer and J. H. Wylie and
Phil. Duitt the clerks. Miss Harris has
disposed of her property to Mr. Hedge
Newton of Gorrie, who will shortly
take up residence here. Miss Harris
-plans to make her home with members
of her family in the West.

Wroxeter Community Association
held a very enjoyable Dance in the
Town Hall on Tuesday evening, Wil-
bee's Orchestra provided music. Con-
veners of the booth were Mrs. Freda
MacDonald and Mrs. Ted Smith. The
Association hope to provide social en-
tertainment throughout the autumn
and winter season.

Young People's Union
The Young People's Unions Wrox-
eter United Church held their first
meeting of the Autumn season on Man-
day evening, at 8.1.5 o'clock, vice-pres-
ident Jean. Moffat conducted the Dev-
otional exercises assisted by Edythe
Weir, who read the scripture and led
in prayer. The Secretary, Margaret
Moffat presented the minutes. Slides
were shown on China and Tibet. key,
U. E. Cronhielm gave an interesting
commentary on. same, Mr. Crotthielnt
is well informed on these countries
having returned front the Mission Field
in China in 1941.
Picture Retommerided
The Woman's Association, United
Church, are sponsoring a picture, "The
God of Creation" hi the church school
room on Monday evening, September
20th. There will also be a short pro-
gramme. Everyone is cordially invit-
ed to see this picture which is in color.

pianist, both of Galt, who delighted
those present with readings, songs and
stories, the accompanist giving a piano
solo by special request also assisting
was a local ladies quartette, Misses
Thelma Denny, Jean' Moffat, Frances
Wylie and Gilberta Howes with Miss
K. Hazelwood al the piano.
During the evening Deputy District
Governor Steve Jones spoke briefly
and was followed by District Governor
Lloyd Edighoffer, who conducted
the installation of officers, whom he
urged to take seriously the responsibil-
ity they had taken and to give every
support to the incoming president, and
stated the success of the whole organ-
ization depends on the individual ef-
fort of officers and members. He
congratulated the Club on its past re-
cord, and extended good wishes for its
future success. The following officers
will carry on for the coming year:

pressed the appreciation of all for his
faithful service, Lion Ken Edgar was
the busiest man in the hall, and few
escaped his eagle eye and fine box. A
Contest .naming the Ship caused much
amusement at the expense of Lion
Howard Wylie, a vote of thanks was
tendered the ladies for their excellent
dinner. The singing of "Good Night
ILadies" and the Lions Roar brought

Alvin X. Sharpin
In Witigharn General Hospital, on
Saturday, September 20th, the death
took place following several 'weeks'
lillness with A heart condition, of Alvin
E. Sharpin, who was a highly esteemed

was the third son of the late Robert
Sharpin and Mary White Sharpin, And
