Held. Trousseau Tea
On Saturday afternoon, Mrs, M. L.
Aitkin entertained at a trousseau tea
for her daughter, Dorothy, whose mar-.
riage takes place on August 80th.
The-tea table, set with lace cloth was.
decorated with tall pink candles and
centred 'with pink and white garden
flowers. Miss Ruby Duff, Toronto,
aunt of the bride-to-be poured tea, The
tea assistants were Miss Emma John-
ston and Miss Louise Patton.
.Guests were present from Bluevale,
Wingham, Moorefield and Freston.
Knox Ladies Aid
Mrs, Alex Shaw was the hostess
this week for the meeting of the 'Mor-
ris Group of the Ladies Aid Society of
Knox Presbyterian Church, The presi-
dent, Mrs. Harvey Robertson conduct-
ed the meeting. The scripture lesson
was read by Mrs. R. J. McMurray and
Mrs, William Elston led in prayer.
.`Several items of bissiness were dis-
cussed. The afternoon was spent sew-
ing. At the close of the meeting a tea
was served by the hostess,
Mrs. William Mundell opened her
home this week for the meeting of the
Triple Group of the- Ladies Aid of
Knox Presbyterian Church. The group
president, Mrs. Mundell presided and
read a scripture message from the 9th
psalm. Mrs. L. C. Jergensen offered
prayer. The report of the Secretary-
Treasurer was presented by Mrs. R.
Elliott. Ideas for the bazaar were offer-
ed and discussed as well as other ways
and means of raising money, The lad-
ies, are planning to do sewing for the
bazaar at the September meeting.
The hostess served tea. There were
eight ladies and three children present.

Rev. J. A. Burden resumed his pas-
toral duties in the United Church on
Sunday morning following a month's
vacation spent with his brother in
Nova Scotia. He spoke from Acts 27-
29 "They Cast four Anchors out of
the Stern." Mrs. J. Wickstead sang a

Rev, Delbert Jorgensen of Mansfield,
Louisanna. He had for his subject,
"The Finger of God", showing that the
finger of God is one of Glory, Law,
Cleansing and Judgment, and points to
the straight and narrow waY. Rev, Le-
land C. Jorgensen Interim Moderator
for Auburn, conducted service in that
congregation on Sunday morning, Next
Sunday morning Mr. Jorgensen will
declare the Teeswater pulpit vacant.
Rev, J. S. Shortt of Kincardine will
preach at the Bluevale Presbyterian
church.
Miss Lillian Garniss, Detroit, is vis-
iting with her niece, Mrs, Burns Mof-
fatt,
Miss Fleming, London, is a guest at
the home of her uncle, J. C, and Mrs.
Higgins.
Mr, and Mrs, W. Damarow, Detroit,
are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Elliott,
Miss Harriett Jorgensen has return-
ed to her home in Wisconsin after
spending her vacation with her brother,
Rev, Leland Jorgensen and Mrs, Jor-
gensen at the Manse.
Mr. Allan Ramsay Of Tara, was a
recent visitor in the village.

Messrs. Stewart Ament and Gordon
Carter, Miss Mildred Carter were
Bayfield visitors on Sunday. -
Mr. Ivan Wightman had his barn
struck last Wednesday during the el-
ectrical storm. No serious damage was
done.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Smith and fam-
ily, visited on Wednesday with Mr.
and Mrs, George Wightman at Bruce
Beach.
The sympathy of the community is
extended to Mr. Earl Wightman, who
received word on Friday of the sudden
passing of his brother, Mr. Herman
Wightman of California. Mr. Wight-
man was a former' resident of this
community and will be remembered
by a number of the residents.
Mrs. Gerald Pyle and three children
of Lowbanks, are visiting at the home
of Mr. Hiram Lindsay.
The Mission Band met on Sunday
afternoon with Lorna Buchanan in the
chair, The members Purpose was re-
peated in unison, Scripture was read
by Lois Campbell. The roll call was
answered with a verse. The study
book was taken )3r Mrs. Chas. Smith.
Reading by Gerald McDowell, a story
was told by Mrs. Norman McDowell.
Master Norman Wightman is visit-
ing his uncle, Mr. Pharis Mathers of
Lucknow.

Canadian National Exhibition on
MuSic Day have attracted more entries
than ever in their history. Numerous
bands include many young men who
were members of boys bands before
going overseas and who have again
taken up music since their return.
