bolt and Marguerite Johns are taking
the trip to the Thousand-Islands and
then to Montreal, Mrs. J, 0. Habkirk
and two children are spending a few
days with friends in Acton.
Large Carp Fish-Mr. A., Buttery
showed us a beautiful large Carp which
he caught in the Maitland on Wednes-
day 4norning. It tips the scales at 105
pounds. This, is at least one of the
fish stories which we must believe for
Mr. Buttery has the goods with him,

Johnston-Barnard-The home of Mr.
and Mrs. Barnard, of Bluevale, was the
scene of a pretty wedding on Saturday,
when their younger daughter, Margaret
Elizabeth, was united in marriage to
Sparling G, Johnston, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Edward Jdhnston, Bluevale, Rev.
Mr. Mann officiated,
Mr. and Mrs. VanWyck Second At
Paltherston-On Thursday 'evening
last, Mr, and Mrs. VanWyck, Mr. and
Mrs. 'W. Miller, and Mr. and Mrs. E.
Harrison attended the mixed doubles
tournament at Palmerston, Mr, and
Mrs. VanWyck won second prize.
Personals-Mrs, J. H. Crawford and
baby, Mrs. (Dr.) A. W. Irwin, and
Mrs. J. M. R. Spittal, are spending two
weeks camping at Kintail. Alton Ad-
ams is spending two weeks at Point
Clark. Miss Phyllis 'johns is visiting
with friends at Lake Scugog. Miss
Mae Allen, of Toronto, is spending her
holidays with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Geo, Allen. Mr. and Mrs, Walter
Lockeridge spent the holiday at Niag-
ara Falls, N. Y.

ey, Misses Margaret and E. Davey,
spent Monday at Grand Valley. Mr.

Jim Chandler were in Brantford on
Saturday. Mr, and Mrs, W. A, Camp-

spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs.

Thieves Break In And Steal-Some
time during Tuesday night robbers
broke into the United Farmers' plant
on Josephine St., and loaded 93 cases
of eggs 'on a truck, and made their get-
away, The truck backed up to a win-
dow on the north side of the building
in full view of the street. The window
was jimmied and the eggs loaded on
„the truck. It is 'estimated that it
would take at least three-quarters of
an hour to load the eggs. The only
clue that was left behind was the jim-
my that was used to force the window,
and a few truck wheel marks.

'Mabel, daughter of Councillor McDon-
ald won three prizes for dancing. She
took -first prize in the Sword dance,
Second prize in the Highland Fling,

petition was very keen for dancers

Accident at C,P.,R.--On Thursday
evening a car, loaded with over 1,000
doors from Lloyd's factory, was being
shunted near the Salt Block, when the
brakes refused to work. The, car ran
heavily against the timbers at the end
of the line, smashed them down, and
ran off the end of the rails to the
street, nor did it stop until it had cross-
ed the road. (Victoria street) and began
to .descend the steep bank of the river.
As the railway men were endeavoring
to get the car back on the tracks on
Friday morning; one Of the crew met
with'ia, serious accident. when the car
suddenly slipped back. forcing the tie.

crushing . it badly and breaking it in
two places.
