The three congregations of the Au-
burn charge, Auburn, Donnybrook
and Westfield met at the Westfield
induction of Rev. A. G. Hewitt, Rev,
Church on Thursday evening for the
Wplfrey of Clinton gave the address
to the congregation. Rev, Newton of
St. Helens gave the address to the
minister, after which the Induction
Ritual , took place. After the 'service a
social hour Was spent.
On 'Tuesday evening the Y.P.U. held
their last meeting which took the form
of- a wiener roast, which was held at
the river at Mr. Earl Wightman's.
Games were played. A. good time was
had by all. -
Mr. and Mrs Douglas Campbell
and children visited on Sunday with
Mr. and Mree Leslie Sholtz of Dun-
gannon. -
Mr. Norman. McDowell was a Lon-
don visitor on Friday.
Mr. andeMre. Chas. Smith and fam-
ily visited on Sunday with Mr: and
Mrs. Bill Smith, Brussels.
JAMESTOWN

The annual school picnic at S. S,
No. 4, Grey, was held last Friday af-
ternoon with ^a good crowd in attend-
ance. During the afternoon, Miss Gal-
braith who has taught in the school
for the past three years and is leaving,
was jresented with a number of lovely
dishes in recognition of her faithful-
ness.
Miss Galbraith is to be congratulat-
ed also her pupil, Kenneth Jacklin,
who successfully passed his Entrance
on his year's work.

terested to know that Rev. Robert
Watt and his wife and family motored
last month to Carvale, Man, about 00
miles north of Brandon and his Inclocs
Lion service was held last Friday even-
ing. Bob graduated from Emmanuel
College, Toronto, in May and was or-
dained in June. Mr. and Mrs, George
Watt also motored to Golden Prairie,
Sask., in May to be there in the United
Church Missionary Fiel,d, -until Sept-
ember, We also wish to congratulate
Donald Watt, who has been %recess-
ful. in passing Ids second year exams
at Medical College, Toronto, and 'is
here efor his holidays with his parents,
Rev. and Mrs, W. j, Watt.
Mr, and Mrs, Scott Paterson and
daughter, and Mr. and Mrs, Frank
Paterson and family of Detroit, spent
the week-end with their father, Mr,
McK. Paterson.
Mr. and Mrs. Thos. • Moore visited
on Sunday at the home of her sister,
Mrs. Jack Henderson of Lucknow.
Mr. Bill Windsor of Detroine spent
the week-end with his grandfather,
Mr. Robt, Carrick.

ren's picnic which are being held on
Thursday at the home of the Presi-
dent, Mrs, Ben McClenaghan. -
Mr, and Mrs. Malcolm. Ross and
family of Toronto, are visiting at the
home of his parents, Mr, and Mrs.
Mac. Ross.
Quite a crowd gathered at the Bali
grounds at the 10th Bridge on Tues-
day night, when Frank Connell umpir-
ed a game between the married women
and the single girls, and Hereon Irwin
was umpire for the game between the
married men and the young men, The
conclusion seems to be foregone. But
all enjoyed the good fun and razzing.
Mr. Eddie Waddell and Mr. Jack
MacDonald have been in Kincardine
for the past two weeks, working on
Mr. Robt. Mowbray's contract at the
South end of the town, putting up a
cement block garage.
Mrs. Chesney of Trenton,. Mich.,
and Mrs. Gourley of Glasgow, Scot-
land, returned to Detroit last ,week,
after ='spending two weeks with their
sister, Mrs. Will. Ringler. Mr. and
Mrs. John Haggitt.of Detroit, are vis-
iting with Mr.. and Mrs. Ringler this
week.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe McInnes and dau-
ghter Mary, of Teeswater, visited at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Fal-
coner on Sunday, and -Mrs. John Fal-
coner, who bad been visiting with
Teeswater relatives, returned home
here with them,
Miss Matilda Alexander is spending
this week at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Clifford Murray of St. Helens.
The Falconer painters were busy
last' week painting at the Newman
Hardware Store and the light blue trim
makes a splendid improvement.

spent last week at Cleveland, at the
home of his brother, Mr. Will Mc-
Clenaghan.
Mr. Jas. McInnis n et with quite a
surprise recently. H had Cleaned up
his buckwheat for sowing, and had
sold some of it, but when he went to
get the seed he found it had taken
wings and the most of it had just dis-
appeared. It ,has been a long time
since the people of this community
have been bothered with petty. thiev-
ing.
Mrs. Wm. Robinson of Lucknow,
has been very ill during the week-end,
Mrs. Cecil Wheeler of Morris, spent
the week-end there,
The regular meeting of the Young
Peoples Group of the United Church
was held last Monday evening with
Mr. Clarence MeClenaghan in charge
of the opening devotional period. Mr,
Catalan Farrier was in charge of the
program leading with a sing-song of
hymns. Miss Olive Terifi led in pray-
er, and Carl McClenaghan read the
Scripture lesson Psalm. The theme of
the meeting was Music, and Mrs. Car-
man Farrier gave a reading on What
Music has done for the World. Miss
Muriel Watt gave a reading on Folk
Music of Many Lands and Mr, Carman
Farrier gave a reading, How Music
Helps, Mrs, W. R. Farrier played a
piano solo, and Carman had charge of
the recreation period that followed the
Mizpah. Benediction,

children of London spent Tuesday
last with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

On Tuesday evening a large number
of neighbours and friends assembled
in the Parish Hall at St. Augustine
in -honour of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas
Williams (nee Irene Robinson). Dur-
ing the evening the young couple were
invited to the platform by Mr. John
Connelly, when Miss Irene Jefferson
read an address 'expressing the good
wishes of those assembled and a pres-
entation of a purse of money was made
by Mrs. H. Jefferson. Mr. Williams

tell who passed with honours grade IX
in pihno at recent Toronto Conserve,
tory exams, and is now taking further
study of music in Toronto. To -Miss
Gilberta Howes, who passed VIII in
singing with honours also to Miss
Frances Wylie who successfully 'grad-
uated from Toronto Normal School.
Miss Wylie has been engaged to teach
in Gorrie Primary room the coming
year.
Mr. Calvin Moffatt had on Tuesday
evening at the ball game in the village
park, the misfortune to break two bon-
es in his foot, which will have to be
in a caste for some weeks.
Rev. W. and Mrs. Cronheihn of
Benmiller arrived in the village
Wednesday and took up residence in
the United Church Parsonage. We
welcome them to the village and hope
their years in the community will be
very happy and successful.

daying with her grandmother, Mrs.

Mr. Walter A, Sawtell left last week
for Toronto and Brampton, where he
will spend some time.
