Father's Day Service
A. Men's Choir of 30 voices led in
the service. of praise at United Church
on Sunday last, when the annual Fath-
er's Day Service was held. Hymns
chosen were psalm 630, That Man
hath perfect blessedness and Fight the
good fight. The choir contributed
an anthem and a quartette, with Mes-
srs. G. A, Wearring, Gilbert Howes,
Arthur Gibson and Vern Hupfcr. Rev.
J. L, Foster spoke from the text, He
that sent me is with me, the Father
hath not left me alone, John, chapter
8, verse 29. Lovely spring flowers in
basket arrangement added to the
brightness of the service.

jack Nichol and Miss' Dorothy Nichol,
all of Montreal, spent the past week
with the former's' brother, Mr, :Eldred
and Mrs. Nichol, Miss Dorothy Nic-
hol leaves Monday for Algonquin Park
where'she will be Counsellor at a girl's
Camp for the holiday season.
Mrs, James Harris left by bus on
Tuesday for Western Canada, visiting
several points enreate, Mrs, Harris
hopes to ,arrive in Calgary early in
July, where she will attend the wedd-
ing of a niece,
Ur. and Mrs, H, V. MacKenney
spent the week-end in Toronto, where
they will attend a Banquet and presen-
tation of Railroad Telegraphers on Sat-
urday evening,
Mr.. Elmer Bellamy of Fordwich, is
a new corner to town having succeeded
Robert Dingwell as first man on the
C.P,R, Section.
The Wroxeter ball team journeyed
to Listowel on Thursday night and
were• defeated. Better luck next time
boys.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm Wright Mid Miss
Winnifred Munro spent the week-end
with friends near Gravenhurst.
The Wroxeter Community Associa-
tion held a very successful Dance on
Wednesday evening last. Wilbee's
Orchestra provided music. Hot dogs
and chocolate milk were in keen .de-
mand, Committee in charge were,
Chairman, Harvey McMichael, Reg
Pacey, Gilbert Howes, Ira MacLean,
Elmer Bellamy, Mrs. Freda MacDon-
ald.
Mr. and Mrs. Kinky ,MacNaughton
and Miss Mary MacNaughton, were
London visitors one day last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Millar and
daughters, were Sunday guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Ira MacLean. '
Mrs. D. W. Rae spent part of last
week with her daughter, Mrs. Edgar
Wightman of Belgrave.
Mr. Thomas Shearer and Miss Beat-
rice Shearer spent Sunday with friends
at Clifford.

stock, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Connell

Sympathy is extended to Mr. R. B.
Hunter, who was called to 134rt Perry
last week owing to the death of his
father. Mr. Green of Wingham assist-
ed the local bank staff in the absence
of the manager.
Mission Band
The Buds of Promise Mission Band
held their June Meeting on Monday
evening in the United. Church school-
room with a good attendance. The
President,Marilyn Maclean presided.
The meeting was called to order with
soft music.. Evelyn Anger at the piano.
The openitig hymn was Now the day
is over, all repeated the Lord's Prayer
Donna MacLean favoured with a solo,
"When Mothers of Salem". The Mis-
sion Band Purpose was repeated. Sec-
ond hymn chosen was "Can a Little
Child Like Me", followed by repeating
the 23rd psalm. The business period
was followed by a game, "The Farmer
in the Dell's'. Mrs. Carl Smith told the
story, Father Shanto tried to fall, the
5th chapter of the Study Book, "Shera
of Punjaw". The hymn, "We thank
Thee, 0 Our Father," and the benedic-
tion brought an interesting meeting
to a close,
Lions Frolic August 14th
At a business meeting of the Howick
Lions Club held last week, plans were
Made to hold the Annual Frolic on
August 14th., in Wroxeter. • Fun and
entertainment for everyone is the aim
of the Club. Funds raised are used
to Make our Community a better place
in which to live. Keep the date open,
August 14th.

St. James Guild
The June meeting of the Women's
Guild, St. Jame,s, Anglican Church,
was held on Tuesday afternoon last at
the home of Mrs. H. V. MacKenney,
who presided and opened the meeting
with the Lord's Prayer. Plans were
made to make two quilts, one on which
tickets will be sold to raise fandS.
Members planned to complete dresses
for the girls of Mohawk Institute also
a complete set of linens for a bedroom
at the Institute, The Guild mernbees
plan to co-operate with the church
board in sponsoring a play, "The Ar-
rival of Kitty" on June 27th, to he Put

boxes. Cash donations for the postage
will be gratefully received. Mrs. Gil-
bert Howes had charge of the last
two chapters of *the Study Book, In-
dia •at the 'Threshhold. Dealing with
the Co-operation through Christian
Council, and the Church in India, The
hymn Come let us sing of a Wonderful
Love and the benediction brought an
interesting meeting to a close.
W. Community Association
The Wroxeter Community Associa-
tion met in the Bank on Friday even-
ing, June 13th. The main item of bus-
iness was plans for a July 1st. cele-
bration. An Exhibition Game of base-
ball will be an attraction also a dance.
Financial help will be given to Wrox-
eter Public Library. The Association
will also provide Swings, and Teeter-
Totters- for the small children in the
village park. Next meeting will be
announced. President Hector Knight
was in the chair. Secretary, Mrs. H.
Durst presented minutes.
Miss Frances Wylie and Miss Helen
Sawtell will leave shortly for Toronto,
where they will take summer short
courses.
Robert Dingwell of Dundalk was a
week-end visitor in town. As•

spending a week with her sister, Mrs.

Detroit, where her mother is very ill.
