The death occurred in Toronto Gen-
eral Hospital on Tuesday, June 3rd' of '
Airs. James Robertson, after a short
illness, She was in her 39th year.
Formerly Edythe Lenoire Adair, dau-
ghter of the late Mr, and Mrs. Win.
Adair, she was born in Turnberryi and
for the past twenty years has resided
in Toronto, In April, 1945, she was
married to Mr. James Robertson who
survives. One step daughter, Faye, of
Toronto; two sisters, Mrs, (Ida) Beek-
with, of California; Mrs. F, (Ethel)
Prast, Toronto, and one brother, Roy,
of Wingham, also survive. One bro...
they, Gordon, died in World War I,
She was a member of the Presby-
terian Church,
A service was held on Tuesday ev-
ening at Brown Bros, Funeral Home,
Toronto, and on Thursday, June 5th
at 2 p.m, funeral services were held
from the home of her brother, Mr. Roy
Adair, Josephine St., with Rev. Alex.
Nimmo officiating. The large number
of beautiful floral tributes paid high
tribute to the deceased,
The pallbearers were Harry Prast,
Adair Prast, Kenneth Baker, Gordon
Gannett, John Deans and Roy Mc-
Larty. Interment in Wingham Ceme-
tery. s ,
Mrs. George Phippen
Mrs, George Phippen, highly re-
spected resident of Lower Wingham,
passed on at her home on Friday,
June 6th, after a short illness. The
former Sarah Arletta Shrigley, was
born in Lower Wingham 84 years ago
and 63 years ago was married to Mr.
Geo. Phippen, who predeceased her.
She was a member of the Baptist
Church and a faithful Red Cross Wor-
ker during the war years. She is
survived by two daughters, Mrs. Peter.
McLeod, Oshawa, Mrs. Alex Rintoul,
Wingham, one son, Cenclair Phippen,
Wingliam, two brothers, Joseph and
Nelson Shrigley of Essex, and nine-
teen grandchildren. One son prede-
ceased her several years ago.
Funeral service was held on Mon-
day, June 9th., at 2 p.m., from the
home of her daughter, Mrs.' Alex
Rintoul, with Rev. A. J. Coupland, of-
ficiating. The pallbearers were Mel-
vin Phippen, George Phippen, Albert
Rintoul, Chester Bird, Robert Finley
and George Finley. Interment was
made in Wingham cemetery.
Attending the funeral were friends
and relatives from Toronto, Kitchen-
er, Clinton, Exeter, Pontiac, Mich.,
Cottam, Essex, Listowel, Oshawa and
Sarnia.

The Department reserves the right
to demand from any successful tend-
erer, 'before awarding the order, a se-
curity deposit hi the toren of a certified
cheque on a chartered bank in Canada,
made payable to the order of the Hon-
ourable the Minister of Public Works,
equal to 10 per cent, of the amount of
the tender, or Bearer Bonds of the Do-
minion Of Canada or of the Canadian
National Railway Company and its con-
stituent companies unconditionally
guaranteed as to principal and interest
by the Dominion of Canada, or the a-
forementioned bonds and a certified
cheque, if required to make up an odd
amount.
Such security will serve as a guaran-
tee for the proper fulfilment of the

her marriage to James McGillivray,
she resided in Wingham going later
to Kincardine. She was associated
with Knox Presbyterian Church.

from an official visit for the Agricul-
ural Department, Toronto, to the

Mrs. Margaret Harrington, who has
been ill at the home of her sister, Mrs.
Wes. Kechnie, is considerably improv-
ed.

ed his first sermon, following his ord-
ination into the Ministry of the United
Church of Canada, at his former home
church at Listowel on Sunday morn-

a Communion set, in a'leather case, for
use in visiting the sick. Mr. David
Hay and Mr. Earl Zurbrigg, superin-
tendant and the assistant superintend-
ant, of the Sunday School presented

more, the former Miss Lois Elliott of
Bluevale, will leave in two weeks' for
the Elk Point Mission Field, St, Paul
