Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Elliott at-
tended the ordination of their son-in-
law, Win, Blackniore at London Con-
ference, Chatham on Tuesday evening,
Mrs. Wm, James Hardy
A former resident of Bluevale, Mrs,
Wm, James Hardy died at the home of
her daughter in Toronto, The funeral
service was held on Monday at Her,-
riston and buriel was in Teeswater
cemetery, where her husband was bur-
ied just two'weeks ago, Mrs. Hardie
was born in Bluevale and was in her
88th year, She was Janet, daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Thos, Riefler&
san, and was a niece of the late Mrs,
John Burgess and Mrs. Adam cleg-
horn. Since her marriage she hes liv-
ed in Teeswater and Hamilton. Mr.
and Mrs, Hardie celebrated their 60th
wedding anniversary two years ago,
She leaves one son, Fred of Harristoe,
and three daughters, Mrs. A. W, Drap-
er of Toronto, Mrs. Thornton of Port
Dover and Mrs, Lissy, Ingham in
Woodrow, Sask. A brother, Thos, of
.Carman, Man, and two sisters, (Mag-
gie) Mrs. Gillies of Winnipeg; and
(Bella) Mrs. Wm, Gardiner of Lions
Head also survive,

On Thursday evening the Society
met for a Social at Westfield with a
good attendance.
The Belgrave Society conducted the
worship service. Ken Wheeler read
the scripture. Earl Anderson gave a
short topic. The remainder of the ev-
ening was spent on recreation. Lunch
was then served and the meeting clos-
ed with the benediction.
The -regular meeting was held on
Sunday evening. Jack Higgins was in
charge. .The meeting opened with a
hymn. George Higgins read the scrip-
ture and the minutes of the previous
meeting were read and adopted. An-
other hymn was sung and Earl Ander-
son led in prayer. Ross Procter gave
the topic on Christian Culture. The
meeting closed by singing a hymn and
repeating the Mizpah Benediction.
LOCAL AND PERSONAL
Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Rha]ves of
Montreal, spent the week-end with
Mr. John Galbraith.
Mrs. Robt. McGee, formerly of. town
visited for a few days here after spen-
ding the winter in Detroit.
Mr. Harry Pilkington of Hespeler,
spent the week-end at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Cenclair Phippen. •
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Clark of Detroit,
spent the week-end with the latter's
mother, Mrs. H. Buchanan.
Mrs. Elgin Currie has returned to
her home at Islington, after spending
the past week With her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Jas. Isard.
Mr. and Mrs. Coleman of Toronto,
also Mrs. Murray of Leaside, spent the
week-end with Mr, and Mrs, Jas. S.
I sard.
Mr. George Phippen spent the week-
end at the Young People's Rally which
was held at the M,B.C. Camp grounds
in Kitchener.
Mr. and Mrs, Jack Town and child-
ren of Mansfield, Ohio, and Mrs. Jean
Smith of Detroit, were week-end guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Town.'
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Yake of Toron-
to, visited over the holiday week-end
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo,
1 Boyle.
Mr. Melvin Phippen of the Bank of
Commerce Staff, Palmerston, spent the
week-end with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Cenclair Phippen,
Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Ney of Port
Stanley, Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Laundy
and -two children of Buffalo, were week
end guests at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. R. E. Armitage.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Matey, and Mrs.
Amy Caspell of Cleveland, and Mrs.
Annie Bennington of Middlefield, Ohio
spent the week-end with' Miss Lottie
Jenkins.

There will be no service in the Un-
ited .Church next Sunday on account of
the Anniversary services being held in:
the United Church, Whitechnrch.
A 'very successful tea and sale was
held in Lnclmow on Saturday under
the auspices of the Women's .Associa-
lion. Proceeds amounted to about
$40.00,
WEDDINGS
Welwood Lloyd
At the Koine of the bride's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. R, H. Lloyd, on Wed-
nesday, May 28th., at 3 o'clock, the
marriage of Louise Lloyd to Norman
Weiwood, was solemnized, The
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs, B,
C. Welwood, Whitechurch, Ontario.
Rev. Alexander Nimmo officiated, and
the brides father gave her in marriage.
She wore a dress of brocaded satin,
with fingertip veil caught by a halo
of brocaded satin and rosebuds, and
she carried a cascade of cream roses.
Mrs. James Hamilton, sister of the
bride, was her attendant in a gown of
peach brocade nylon skirt over
taffeta. Carl Seip was best man. Re-
eeiving the bride's mother wore a
gown dress of blue gray mesh crepe,
and the groom's mother's dress was of
black crepe.
HAY, PASTURE TESTS
Extensive tests of pure species and
mixtures of grass are conducted every
year by the Division of Forage Plants,
Dominion Experimental Farms Ser-
vice. Information collected over a per-
iod of years shows that the yields may
be greatly increased by the use of suit-
able grass and legume species. The ad-
dition of alfalfa to tlfe yielding mixture
in the Ottawa area for hay has given a
long-time average increase of 30 per
'cent over mixtures without alfalfa and
used for pasture produced 20 per cent
more than similar mixtures with no al-
falfa. Ladino clover grown in mixtures
containing alsike or red clover as one
of the legumes. The new varieties of
