Rev, Leland C. Jorgensen, pastor of
Knox Church, attended the Preshy,
terkbn Synod of Hamilton-London•the
first three days of this week in Knox
Presbyterian Church, St. Thomas. As-
sisting in the opening services was a
Bluevale boy, Rev. James K. West,
minister of Alma Street Presbyterian
Church, St. Thomas, moderator of the
Presbytery of London, and clerk of the
Synod. Rev, J. K. West was bonn in
Bluevale, son of the late Rev. W, J.
West, and Mrs, West of London,
Mr. and Mrs. Norman McLaughlin
of Wingham, visited their friends, Mr,
and Mrs. Peter McEwen and Mr. Al-
fred Agar, the occasion being the lat-
ter's 'birthday.
Miss Florence Fowler has returned
to the farm in Turnberry for the sum-
mer, having spent the winter in Sea-
forth.
The Men's Club held their annual
meeting in the Community Hall and
elected the following officers; Past
President, Cloyne Higgins; Pres., Al-
yin Smith; Vice-Pres., Carl Johnston;
Secretary, Eai'l Hamilton; Treasurer,
John Fischer. Directors: Geo. Thom-
son, Alex Corrigan, John McTavish,
Ross Smith, W. J. Peacock, Rev. L. C,
Jorgensen, Rev. A. G. Hewitt.
At the Y.P.U. meeting Allan Brec-
kenridge and Rev. A. G. Hewitt spoke
on the topic, "Canadian Hymns", illus.

The Institute is putting on a demon-
stration "Oven-Cooked Meals", in the
Community Hall on the afternoons of
Thursday and Friday, May 8th and
9th„ from 1.30 to 4 o'clock, and every-
one is invited,
Rev. Campbell and Mrs. Tavener of
Holmesville, visited Miss Martha Fra-
ser, Mrs. A. Shaw and other former
parishoners on' Monday. Her many
friends will be pleased td hear that
Mrs. Tavener's sister, Miss Lucy
Cozens has completely recovered from
a serious accident and has made plans
for a'trip home to England.
The recent high water reached the
floor in the basement of the United
Church. However, a few years ago it
came over the floor and several inches
up on the chair legs. In that year the
parsonage basement was flooded and
the furnace fire put out,
Miss Margaret Curtis and others
attended the Women's Institute Execu-
tive meeting in Gorrie on Tuesday.
The triple group of Knox church
Ladies' Aid sponsored a play, "Aunt
Bessie Beats the Band", in 'th'e Com-
munity Hall, on Friday evening. It .
was put on by a group of young people
from Brussels, United Church, Mr.
and Mrs. Horace Aitchison of Wing-
ham, sang between acts, as did also a
group from Bluevale school,
Rev. L. C. Jorgensen occupied his
pulpit in Knox Church, Sunday, after
two weeks with relatives in Wisconsin
and Illinois. Mrs. Jorgensen returned
home with her husband, after several
weeks at the bedside of a sister in
Wheaton, Ill., who is still very low.
Mr. and Mrs. 'Robert Turnbull and
family of Byron, and Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Harris of Holstein, spent the
week-e.nd with Mr, and Mrs. Edward
Johnston.
Mr. Wm..Noah Blackmore, formerly
of Bluevale and Listowel, and son-in-
law of Mr. and . Mrs. Raymond Elliott,
was last week awarded the diploma of
Einmantiel College, after completion of
the regular course, Another graduate
of Emmanuel College of interest to Their guests for the occasion included Blucvale people, is Maxwell Jewitt
Pate grandson of the late Wm. Jewitt
of Morris.
Mrs. Duncan MacNaughton cele-
brated her 85th birthday on Tuesday,
April 29th. Mrs. MacNaughton is in
good health and feeling younger than
on lier80th birthday.
John Koch of Gorrie, formerly of
Bluevale, called in our village one day
recently.

COUNTY HOLSTEIN
SHOW AT BLYTII
The. Annual Black and White Show
sponsored by the HUron Holstein Club
will again this year be held in con-
nection with Blyth Fair according to a
decision reached at a meeting of the
Executive of the Club held on April
22 at the Agricultural Offices, Clinton.
The date of the Show will be Sept-
ember 11, and Professor George Raith-
by of the Ontario Agricultural College,
Guelph, is being asked to judge,
A first-class prize list amounting to
$550 in all has been prepared. In ad-
dition the Holstein Club is offering a
Premier Exhibition Banner and special
prizes of True Type Models will be
presented to the owners of the Grand
Champions. Other special prizes will
be Presented by S. Reddick & Sons,
Clinton, and Watt Feeds, Palmerston.
It was decided to give increased sup-
port to the Calf Club work in the
County. This will include the present-
ation of Show halters to the winning
Calf Club members.
The Annual Banquet, of the Club
will be held October 23, at which time
it is planned to present all Show and
Calf Club prizes.

The County Library Institute, spon-
sored by the County and small libraries
section of the Ontario Library Assoc-
iation, met in Goderich on Friday.af-
tennoon. The delegates were guests of
the County Council at a banquet in
