group finals was unable to be present.
The Fordwich Club eliminated, in the
semi-finals was represented by Robert
Gibson, coach, and Arch Roberts, man-
ager, and we take this opportunity of
publicly cpressing our personal pleas-
ure and appreciation of this neighbour-
ly gesture by the Gorrie Club. Others
at the head table were, Tory Gregg,
president of the W.O.A.A., Rev, and
Mrs. Howse; Manfred Irvin, manager
of the team, and Mrs. Irwin; Harry
Templeman coach, and Mrs, Temple-
man, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chapman,
Mr. and Mrs. Cloyme Michael, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Harrison, and Miss
Spading.
A second brief sing-song was fol-
lowed by temarks by the chairman,
who first complimented the hockey
boys on the success achieved the past
season. He then expressed the desire
that each and everyone would exert. in
their everyday living that all-out ener-
gy displayed on the ice, particularly. in
things pertaining to the chive]) and
its activities. In our opinion it was a
most timely and profound plea to
everyone present to take stock of our-
selves and decide whether or not we
Are giving our best in things really
worth-while. Mr. Howse closed his
remarks by quoting a poem, "Hitting
the. Line."
He then called on the following in
this order; Arch Eoberts, Manfred
Irwin, -Robt, Gibson, Harry Temple-
man, Elmer Farris!), Tory Gregg. AS
is frequently the case, the latter was
by no means least, Tory expressed his
pleasure, as president of the W.0,A.A,,
in being present, and went on to say
that attending such events, almost
every night, certainly wasn't helping
preserve his waistline, or something to
that effect. As regards the showing
made by the Gorrie Hockey Team he
contended they had done more in pub-
licizing their village than any other
form of advertising could have done.
He also recommended that each and
every player keep in condition thee-
ughoet the summer by following sonic
outthror sport; lie person can be at:
efficient athlete three or four months
Without; at least,moderate conditioning
the remainder of the year. He told of
the growth of the W.O.A,A, and of his
expectations for the future.
At the close of Tory's address, the
assembly was invited to ask hint any
questions they wished. This was tak-
en advantage of by a few. Cloyne 111k-
Intel then :expressed thanks to Tory,
heartily endorsed by all.
Manager Irvin at this point, express-
ed regret that the leather sports lac.
kets for each member of the Leann, Or-
dered some time, had not artiVed. He
thought there probably should be an-
