Officers Rally, Mrs. Hayes Dept.
Speaker
On Friday in United Church school-
room an Officers Rally sponsored by
the Women's Institutes of East Huron,
was held with two sessions, commenc-
ing at 10 a.m. Owing to road and
weather conditions the attendance from
other' branches was not large. The
morning session opened with the sing-
ing ofthe Ode and repeating the
Lord's prayer, The speaker, Mrs. ;Clar-
ence Hayes was introduced by Mrs:'
V. MacKenney. Mrs. Hayes has a•
very pleasing personality and is a
fluent speaker. Some of the subjects
covered were: How to conduct meet-
ings. She said one and one half hours

The 13uds of Promise Mission Band
held their April meeting on Mond,ay
evening in United Church school-
room, The President, 'Marilyn Mac-
lean presided and the meeting opened
with soft music, Evelyn Anger at 'the
piano. The opening hymn sung was,
Tell Me the Story of Jesus. The pur-
pose was repeated in unison. Donald
Gibson in the absence of the Secretary,
wrote the minutes, Twenty-one mem-
bers answered the Roll Call. The
scripture reading was taken from St.
Johns Gospel, chapter 20, verses 1-19.
Billy Gibson favoured with a piano
solo,, "Dixie Land". Jesus Loves Me
was the second hymn chosen, Bernall
Smith received the offering." Shirley
McMichael led in prayer. A game,
Musical .Chairs, was enjoyed. Mrs.
Anger presented the chapter„ from the
Study Book, Shera of the Punjan.
Jesus bids us shine and the Mizpah
benediction brought an interesting
meeting to a close. A special Easter
treat refreshments were served by the
leaders, Mrs. Ira Maclean, Mrs. S.
Higgins and Ms, W. Wright.
EAST WAWANOSII
COUNCIL
Council met on April 1st., with a full
attendance. Reeve J, D. Beecroft pre-
siding: The minutes of the previous
peeking were read,' On motion of
Councillor Robertson and Ireland, the
minutes were adopted. A letter from
the Investigation Department of the
insurance Company re claim for dam-
ages to an automobile was referred to
the Road Superintendent. A letter
from The Ontario Historical Society
requesting that all owners of century
retained farms, complete the question-
airre which may :be obtained from the
Township Clerk,
Mr. Simon Hallahan, president of
the East Wawanosh Federation of Ag-
riculture,' addressed the council re
Warble Fly Spraying.
Motion, Councillors Robertson and
Ireland, that we proceed.to investigate
the matter of procuring a spraying
unit and, if possible, purchase one,
Carried,
Motion, Councillors Black and Rud-
dy, that a grant of $20 be given the
Belgrave School Fair.
Mr, Harry Sturdy representing the
North Huron Plowing Association
stated the match would be held in East
Wawanosh in 1947.
Motion, Councillors Ruddy and
Robetrson, that we co-operate with
the N. Huron Plowing Association -in
carrying on time Plowing Match in East
Wawanosh in 1947, Carried.
The Road Superintendent gave his
report on the Good Roads Convention.
The Clerk- was instructed to complete
and file an agreement with Mr. Joe
Kerr for crushing and delivering gravel
at the same price as in 1946.. •
Motion, Councillors Robertson and
Black that the Road Superintendent
he paid 70 cents an hour and workmen
on Township roads be paid 50 cents
per hour; Carried.
A Court of Revision on Scott Muni-

appeals.
