John Edthund Amsbury John Edmund Amsbury, a well- known resident of Stratford since 1018, died at his home, 64 'Gore St., Thurs- day morning. He had been in failing health for the past few months but had been able to continue working until about three weeks ago vvliett he became seriously ill. He was a foreman at the Stratford Chair Company, He had been employed there since coming to Stratford„ and was well-known and re- spected among his fellow employees. Born In Manchester, Ontario, NOV, 19, 1878, he was a Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Willirtnt Attsbury. lie resided in Wingtiant before corning to Stmt. 'born near Bervie, Ontario. Sixty-one years ago she was married in Colum- bus, Ohio, to the late William. Dore, After her marriage she came to Wing- ham where' she has resided until about four years ago, While residing in Wingham, she was a member of the Wingham United Church. She is survived by one son, Henry of Woodstock, her daughter, (Eileen), Mrs. W .S, Hillman, New Toronto; four grandchildren, (Alice), Mrs. Ed- ward Nixon, Weston; (Louise) Mrs. Kenneth Pennington, 'Goderich, Phyllis and Kenneth Hillman, New Toronto, and, one great grandchild, Ross ,Pe,n- ington, She was predeceased by her husband seventeen years ago, her son, Herbert in 1923, and one daughter in infancy. Service was held at 4 o'cloCk on Sun- day afternoon in Wingham United Church with 'the Rev. W. A. l3eecroft, officiating. The pallbearers were: W. A. Galbraith, G. W. Buchanan, Dr. G. W. Howson, Dr. G. H. Ross, it H. Lloyd and W. B. McCool. Interment will be made later in Wingham ceme- tery. William Thomas Wellings Following a very short illnesS, Wil- liam Thomas Wellings of East Wawa- nosh passed on at his home on Fri- day, March 7th:, in his 77th year. He was born in Ludlow, Shropshire, Eng- land, where he received his education atCommercial College. Coming to Canada in 1908, he settled' for some time in 'Coaticook, Quebec where he farmed. In 1919 he moved to this dis- trict and took up fanning in East Wa- wanosh. He was married to the former Mary Ellen Haines of Holy- rood near Lucknow. He' was a faithful member of the Wingham United Church, a member of the Session and Canadian Order of Foresters. Surviving besides his wife are sire sisters, Mrs.Septimus Small and Mrs. Wm. Lewis of Wean Salop, England; Mrs. Jack Payne of Redford, Mich.; Mrs. Albert Chadwick of Christ Church, New .Zealand, Miss Emily Annie Wellings and Miss Louise Eli- zabeth Wellings of London, Ontario, and one brother, Frederick Charles Wellings of London, Ontario, Funeral service was held in Wing- ham United Church on Monday at 2 p.m. with Rev.
