Contest Concert Great Success
Town Hall, 'Wroxeter had a capacity
audience on. Friday night, when a con-
test concert was sponsored by the
Community Association. The rules of
the contest called for a variety pro-
gramme and variety it was. The lad-
ies presented their programme first,
and from the opening chorus until the
close it was highly entertaining and in-
eluded a Piano Solo. Tap Dancing,
Comic' Skit, Reading, a Musical Com,
edy number, Lena of Palesteena was
new and unusual. The colorftil cos-
tumes adding much. A .one-act play,
entitled Enjoying Good Health, with
five characters taking part was well
presented. During intermission the
audience joined in community singing.
A Male Quartette opened the Mens
portion of the concert, over which Mr.
Ken Edgar presided as chairman, Ed-
gar Bergan, Charlie McCarthy skit was
complete with the singing of Dorothy
Lamar, mouth organ and-Duet was en-
joyed. A Shadow Scene with sur-
geons at work with hammer, hatchet
and saw, provided a serious atmos-
phere for the Mock Trial Scene: Mac-
Kenney vs Wylie case, which followed
with Judge, Lawyers, Court Cryer,
usual shut-down for • retooling was
avoided and there was virtually no de-
crease in the rate of output when the
new models went into production.
Witnesses and Jury complete with lie
detectors which was kept busy signal-
ling as the case, MacKenney vs"Wylie
proceeded, a quadrille was the final
number. The 25 voters chosen at ran-
dom from the audience declared the
men winners. A Booth provided re-
freshments, Dancing" was enjoyed
with Wilbee's Orchestra. Wroxeter au-
dience always appreciate a Home Tal-
ent 'Concert and Friday Night's per-
formance was no exception. The cord
mittee, Mr. A. Moffat, Mr. Ken Edgar,
Mrs. H. V. MacKenney, Mrs. H. I.
Durst and Mrs. J. N. Allen, Mrs. Wm.
Hart, and all those who took Dart are
to be congratulated on its success. The
proceeds will be used for civic im-
provements.
